CNN is taking a poll on the Gipper's greatest achievement. Not many people have responded so far, but I'd like to see FR overwhelm their web site with responses. I voted 'Ending the Cold War' myself... but whatever your response, please take a second to register your opinion about a truly great man.

I voted for "Ending the Cold War" too.
A very sad day this is.
In his honor, hope you will consider making your tag-lines be Reagan quotes!
Congressman Billybob
What, no option for "widened the divide between rich and poor" or something like that? How did three positives get on a CNN poll? Well I'm glad that's how it worked out anyway!
CNN's slant is still apparent. That should read 'WINNING the Cold War'.
Triumph of conservatism 19% 2305 votes
Morning in America 5% 645 votes
End of the Cold War 75% 9010 votes
Total: 11960 votes
Good catch, you're right.
What is "Morning in America" supposed to be?
It sounds like what I was thinking - that Reagan brought a new day to our country after the black days of carter....
Of course, his great contribution to the cold war triumph is paramount. But he did advance conservatism as much or more than anyone as well.
President Bush read the following statement in response to the death of President Ronald Reagan:
"This is a sad hour in the life of America. A great American life has just come to an end.
"I have just spoken to Nancy Reagan. On behalf of our whole nation, Laura and I offered her and the Reagan family our prayers and our condolences.
"Ronald Reagan won America's respect with his greatness and won its love with his goodness.
"He had the confidence that comes with conviction, the strength that comes with character, the grace that comes with humility and the humor that comes with wisdom.
"He leaves behind a nation he restored and a world he helped save. During the years of President Reagan, America laid to rest an era of division and self doubt.
"And because of his leadership, the world laid to rest and era of fear and tyranny. Now, in laying our leader to rest we say thank you.
"He always told us that for America the best was yet to come. "
We comfort ourselves in the knowledge that this is true for him, too. His work is done and now a shining city awaits him. May God bless Ronald Reagan."

What will Ronald Reagan be most remembered for?
Triumph of conservatism 19% 3150 votes
Morning in America 6% 937 votes
End of the Cold War 75% 12550 votes
Total: 16637 votes
Freeped. Thanks. It was up to 76%.
Freeped, ending the Cold War.
I have voted also. I voted for "winning the cold war" (I know their wording is ending, but they are wrong).
I was suprised to find all the choices were good. End the cold war was my choice. Winning the cold war would have been a better choice, irregardless, we know Reagan's actions brought the cold war to an end-so does CNN.
Bump for dessert
