May 22, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - Jordan's King Abdullah fueled the U.S. move against Iraqi leader Ahmed Chalabi by providing bombshell intelligence that his group was spying for Iran, The Post has learned. An explosive dossier that the Jordanian monarch recently brought with him to White House sessions with President Bush detailed Mafia-style extortion rackets and secret information on U.S. military operations being passed to Iran, diplomats said.

In that part of the world telling truth is giving your enemy power over you. And everyone who is not of your kindred is your enemy.
The scandal stemmed from the collapse of the Bank of Petra, which Chalabi controlled, the diplomatic officials said.
FAST FORWARD
The Pentagon airlifted Chalabi and members of the INC into Iraq the day after Saddam Hussein fell and gave them prominent roles in the new governing council, in charge of the Finance Ministry and ridding Iraqi government agencies of Saddam's Ba'ath Party............
Are the people in this administration going soft in the head? What were they thinking or should I ask why weren't they thinking???
We are in the Hall of the Funhouse Mirrors. Things are getting "spooky". Too much of this is still "sources said" etc. in these reports.
"When I read about the Jordanian accusations of embezzling, I thought it was probably a false accusation to make him look bad.."
Actually, that is pretty much the case. It was a political allegation.
We didn't expose it.
John Negroponte is indeed a good guy.
My only suspicion is that he is highly regarded by both sides of the Aisle in Congress. But that has its advantages.
Bremer should have never been put in there in the first place and Negroponte will be just as bad. Negroponte is an upper east side, second generation "New Deal" Foreign affairs mandarin type" and has spent little meaningful time in America outside of Manhattan, DC and Georgetown. He has more respect for his diplomatic "clients" that he does for the average American. So it goes with the entire liberal establishment. That is just the point about the conservative movement in this country.
Breemer is most likely a Liberal Dem and in some people's eyes in the Defense and intelligence communities one of the real problems over there. Bush continually thinks that he can get buy-in from the old school liberal establishment but it almost always blows up in his face. The establishment hates the broader American people and feels it are above the rest of us, yet they have as a class lost any real competence they might have ever had and are morally, intellectually and spiritually bankrupt. In a sense, though Bush had little choice, if he would and end ran them we would have gotten nothing off the ground.
It is certainly true that liberal minions at state and to a lesser extent the CIA have been trying to sabotage this war from the beginning - this is most likely the last chance they will have. Every Rebulican administration has had to deal with this since FDR took power.
You should care about this election in that if we do not unseat the old order we will end up with immense national security problems and in the economic and social sphere we shall come more and more to follow European Socialist models. This will lead to a profound national decline, perhaps the end of us as a nation. Bush represent a least a potential for the revival of this country and that requires that the old elites are sent to pasture. A vote for Kerry will be quite harmful to the nation. With Bush we can begin a national revitalization that was derailed in the 60's. It is a choice between the US in time passing as a nation or moving on to a greater destiny and creating a truly American civilization. This is just the beginning of a long struggle and in that struggle the WOT is but one component. If we fail we will fail to survive and fail or descendants.
We are a watershed in or history - the stakes could not be higher than they are in this election. That is why the establishment, the media and their radical auxiliaries on the far left are so animated: They know the score. Hang in there. These sort of mechanizations are a part of war.
Freedom is hard work. BTW, I do not think that Powell is running for 08. I just do not feel that he feels he can take on the old establishment and win. Another term and someone in there like Guliani might a a good start to clearing this up. In the end to dismantle the liberal order will require dismantling their power bases in the Federal agencies. We need to be strong to continue to fight the good fight, it will take a generation or two to win.
Aye.
And it seems a common tactic to denounce people you don't like as "collaborators" with [insert enemy here] so as to get some powerful group to take them out for you. This happens a lot in Afghanistan, where various tribal leaders have accused rival tribal leaders of being in league with Al Qaeda, in hopes that the US will bomb them. Apparently it has worked pretty well in some cases, too.
My recollection is that we found documents in Iran that implicated various individuals and entitities in the scandal. What's your's?
Thank you for the explanation and encouragement. I just don't know what to believe anymore. I believed in Bremer and now I find that the foundation of that belief was built on crumbling half-truths. I'm beginning to doubt my own ability to discern the political landscape and think maybe "airhead" would make a more fitting screen moniker than "arasina".
What's next? Am I going to find out the same thing about Dubya? That what I have seen in him since 9/11/01 is all a facade? Have I been duped bigtime there too?
Note to libs and leftists: people like "arasina" are the weakest link.
Here is the problem, which is the same problem that we have always had in this country. Intellectuals. These folks have ruined every single thing they have ever been in charge of. Bush is at a disadvantage because the 'new tone' was a big mistake. Bush should have cleaned house. Sad to say, but Bush needed those same Intellectuals to win the election. He had to come out with Powell early to sooth the State Dept which could have derailed the election.
The Neocons are all about divide and conquer. They don't care what really happens in the world as long as someone pays attention to them. Re: Kristol. Right now, Bush can only trust a few folks; Rummy in particular. The Defense Dept is almost Bush's only friend at the moment, because the State Dept is full of liars and appeasers who would rather have their jobs under Kerry, as they then would have nothing to do but attend parties, and no longer be subject to embassy bombings. The most important thing is that Bush wins reelection, where he can then get rid of Powell, clean house at State, and do what needs to be done to win in Iraq.
Stop doubting, as this is exactly what is going to happen when Bush wins, which is why the whole world opposes it. Many, many people are about to lose their power in the world and they don't like it.
How about Newt as Secretary of State?
No he is not. There is so much dirt on folks all over the place, there is panic in the streets about what is going to come out. Especially in Iran, Syria and Jordan. The U.N. is about to be proven an enemy to the U.S. beyond anything previosly known. Some things are said to be so bad as to be kept secret for the good of the world.

Hang in there, the globalists/leftists hate the President for a reason. He's a threat.
Do you think Alma Powell would go along with this? I know she hasn't favored the idea before.
You should also realize that some people on FR have perhaps more than superficial understandings and involvements with government then many on other forums might.
Bush is to me a breath of free air in American politics. I a an "American Firster conservative" and so have some problems with the globalism espoused by the GOP in general and Bush in particular. I do think that Bush is an honorable and capable man, perhaps more so than we have had in a very long time. He has winningly faced incredible odds and tackled what seemed to me to be intractable problems and yet has produced results. The point though in our system is to not get caught up in personalities but stick to your guns: Principles first then people. Certainly people must embody those principle to the extent that they can but no one is perfect.
This is a mistake that the conservative movement often makes and it often results in throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Our domestic enemies do not make this mistake. Inch by inch they claw away at the Republic.
I do not have a sense of corruption in any sense in the Bush administration. I do know however that the obligations, interest and duties of the USA are grander and larger than any nation in history and that often compromises must be reached in order to meet them.
The problem is, of course, that since the 60's half of the nation cannot seem to mature past the age of 19 years old. We must deliver this nation from the hands of these people and return it to the hands of wisdom, honor and work-a-day faith, courage and nobility. We have gone astray and need to find our way home. I think that Bush is a start down this path.
Never forget what we have been and should always be: an common people that does uncommon things.
Do not abide the mediocre who pretentiously undertake common things.
