Bremer should have never been put in there in the first place and Negroponte will be just as bad. Negroponte is an upper east side, second generation "New Deal" Foreign affairs mandarin type" and has spent little meaningful time in America outside of Manhattan, DC and Georgetown. He has more respect for his diplomatic "clients" that he does for the average American. So it goes with the entire liberal establishment. That is just the point about the conservative movement in this country.
Breemer is most likely a Liberal Dem and in some people's eyes in the Defense and intelligence communities one of the real problems over there. Bush continually thinks that he can get buy-in from the old school liberal establishment but it almost always blows up in his face. The establishment hates the broader American people and feels it are above the rest of us, yet they have as a class lost any real competence they might have ever had and are morally, intellectually and spiritually bankrupt. In a sense, though Bush had little choice, if he would and end ran them we would have gotten nothing off the ground.
It is certainly true that liberal minions at state and to a lesser extent the CIA have been trying to sabotage this war from the beginning - this is most likely the last chance they will have. Every Rebulican administration has had to deal with this since FDR took power.
You should care about this election in that if we do not unseat the old order we will end up with immense national security problems and in the economic and social sphere we shall come more and more to follow European Socialist models. This will lead to a profound national decline, perhaps the end of us as a nation. Bush represent a least a potential for the revival of this country and that requires that the old elites are sent to pasture. A vote for Kerry will be quite harmful to the nation. With Bush we can begin a national revitalization that was derailed in the 60's. It is a choice between the US in time passing as a nation or moving on to a greater destiny and creating a truly American civilization. This is just the beginning of a long struggle and in that struggle the WOT is but one component. If we fail we will fail to survive and fail or descendants.
We are a watershed in or history - the stakes could not be higher than they are in this election. That is why the establishment, the media and their radical auxiliaries on the far left are so animated: They know the score. Hang in there. These sort of mechanizations are a part of war.
Freedom is hard work. BTW, I do not think that Powell is running for 08. I just do not feel that he feels he can take on the old establishment and win. Another term and someone in there like Guliani might a a good start to clearing this up. In the end to dismantle the liberal order will require dismantling their power bases in the Federal agencies. We need to be strong to continue to fight the good fight, it will take a generation or two to win.
Thank you for the explanation and encouragement. I just don't know what to believe anymore. I believed in Bremer and now I find that the foundation of that belief was built on crumbling half-truths. I'm beginning to doubt my own ability to discern the political landscape and think maybe "airhead" would make a more fitting screen moniker than "arasina".
What's next? Am I going to find out the same thing about Dubya? That what I have seen in him since 9/11/01 is all a facade? Have I been duped bigtime there too?
