I keep hearing others refer to the picture of Mr. Berg's body on the bridge. I am not posting this for your benefit, only so others can see that this pic is not Mr. Berg on the bridge. I have posted it with the U.S. military personnel shown still wearing the NBC suits required during the start of the war in Iraq. Based on these suits being used, it is obvious that this is an old photo.
And these are my properties on when I downloaded the pic, which are before the discovery of his body. It was in a thread of pics posted about the anniversary of the war and many of the photos had time/date stamps from a year ago.

Thanks for posting proof that picture on the bridge was not Nick Berg.
Unfortunately I am afraid we are about at the end of the thread and not many will see it so they will still go on thinking it was him.
If you get a chance on a new thread early on post it again.

Another weird page in the story. The
company he was representing apparently doesn't exist.

Upon further investigation, especially by P-Marlowe, Nick Berg's business did exist, and it was legitimate.
Also, Oklahoma is a popular place to learn that trade, and the places he went were perfect places in need of his work.
See PMarlowe's posts.. Here's a pretty thorough one:

Another strange thing I heard on TV, was that when he went to Iraq, he actually landed in Jordan and made his way to Iraq by land!

He went from here to Israel, then took a hopper to Jordan, from where he got a truck and then drove into Iraq.
At the time, it was before the insurrection when the kidnappings began, making travel dangerous like it was after his release from detention.
FWIW, I read that landing in Baghdad was more complicated than doing it the way he did, unless one had established business or connections there. (this is not confirmed)

Nearly impossible to figure all this out with the thousands of posts to cull thru, isn't it?
I needed a *lot* of hand-holding. lol

That may be the explanation then. Things can appear 'strange' until you know the reason 'why'!

Sorry billhilly, I was involved in so many other threads and things I missed your response until just now.
I'd love to name a few:
While many North African countries are historically Muslim (which, incidentally, I consider quite different from Radical Islamic) such as Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Egypt, as you correctly pointed out, sub-Saharan Africa has not traditionally been Islamic. Of couse now we all know that Nigeria, Somalia, the Sudan and Ethiopia are succumbing to Islamic influence and in many parts of these countries Sharia law is being imposed in a Taliban-like way, more so than in the historically Muslim North African countries mentioned above.
Al Qaeda activity in Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi and Zambia has recently made the news. There is also evidence of Islamic movement into the Ivory Coast, Senegal, Gambia, Niger Mauritania, Chad, and Mali in West Africa and Eritrea, Djibouti, and Uganda on the Horn of Africa along with the aforementioned Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya and Tanzania. There has even been activity identified in South Africa.
There are plenty of African countries which remain relatively free of Islamic influence, after all, it is an enormous continent, but it is only a matter of time.
Hope this helps! Have a nice evening! MCC

HUH? How many people were questioned by the FBI because Massoui had their password/email information? It's at least suspicious that: 1. The guy who had a coincidental connection to the 20th 9/11 hijacker died at the hands of the same group. 2. The guy who was butchered to death has his father say "you murdered your best friend". 3. The guy had no license to do what he was in Iraq to presumably do. He never graduated college and got a license. 4. The guy had no telecommunications equipment although he was there to rebuild telecommunications centers. 5. He came and went from Iraq twice, although he had no job and no money. 6. He was offered free passage home but didn't go because he was afraid of the trip to the airport but not afraid of traveling to Kuwait, which is where he was headed. 7. Other little things that don't add up but I'm tired and don't remember. Doesn't mean anything, maybe. Might mean a lot maybe. We're just speculating. Regardless, he didn't deserve to die that way and the jihadists have ticked off everyone I've talked to more than they've been ticked since 9/11 and the anthrax scares.
He had NO telecommunications gear with him????? Are you sure???

Now that answer group is comprised of some hard core anti Americans, with a whole lot of dummies that think they're doing the right thing. The dummies are carrying water for the terrorists, and have no idea how much harm they're doing to their own country. You and I don't disagree at all on this. I guess I think Ashcroft was obtuse for a reason but maybe not.

have no idea how much harm they're doing to their own countryI don't buy this. They are nihilistic. It's the political and psychological equivalent of calling in the artillery on your own position. I suspect we're dealing with a panoply of APA Definitions.
To: Stentor
Well, I was going to add in that post that I don't believe they care about what harm they are doing. But I was too sleepy:)

Oh exactly. Who knows what Ashcroft has up his sleeve. It's just that I can't stand that kind of communication style. It reminds me of Clinton.
I think answer is going to be answering some tough questions in the near future.
