Bush's Backing of Rumsfeld Shocks and Angers Arabs

DUBAI (Reuters) - Arab commentators reacted with shock and disbelief on Monday over President Bush (news - web sites)'s robust backing of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld against calls for his resignation.
Critics had called for him to quit after the furor over the abuse of Iraqi prisoners but analysts, editors and ordinary Arabs were united in their condemnation of Bush who said the United States owed Rumsfeld a "debt of gratitude."
"After the torture and vile acts by the American army, President Bush goes out and congratulates Rumsfeld. It's just incredible. I am in total shock," said Omar Belhouchet, editor of the influential Algerian national daily El Watan.
"Bush's praise for Rumsfeld will discredit the United States...and further damage its reputation, which is already at a historic low in the Arab world," he added.

I was moved by Bush's statement to the Arab press, it was the right thing to do and the right thing to say to the Arab world.
But I do not want a president or a SecDef who go around apologizing for things, I want people in leadership who will face problems and fix them. Did the enemy wound us on Bush's watch? Then I want him to chase them down and finish them. Did some of our soldiers get out of hand on Rum's watch? Then I want him to dispense justice and fix the problem.
The whole notion of pro-forma apologies leaves me cold. Apologize when you mean it, but never do it just for show. Resign when you can't do your job, but never resign just to please your enemies.

"Bush's praise for Rumsfeld will discredit the United States...and further damage its reputation, which is already at a historic low in the Arab world," This "Arab world" is on my last nerve.
I expect we will do things as this war on terror goes on that will lower us even more in the Arab world, As they French say "Say la Vi"

Forgive y language, but what the hell DOESN'T anger Arabs/ragheads?
Modern civilization as a whole angers them.
Women outside of black bags anger them.
Dogs anger them.
Anyone not Muslim angers them.
Jews anger them.
Christians anger them.
Defiance of their death-cult angers them.
Our Constitution angers them.
The Crusades still anger them.
(They anger me too, since they didn't go far enough to rid the world of Islam)
Point is- you either have to be pathologically angry to BE Muslim, or it is a brain-washing experience that incites anger at everything.
What other people LIVE screaming in the streets like packs of wild-eyed cavepeople?
I'm angry that Islam EXISTS, how about that?
Rummy should stay. ESPECIALLY since our enemy doesn't want him to remain. If the evil people are against you, it's a good thing.

Geeee....the Arab community is shocked and angered......too &$@&^%!*& bad!
I've been shocked and angered by the Arab's support of Arafat, Assad, Kha-"daffy", bin-Laden, Hussein, Khomeini, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, al-Aqsa Brigades...and the multitude of other freaks, mullahs, ayatollahs, sheiks, murderers, malcontents, homicide bombers and flotsam/scum.
When the Arabs condemn, control and eliminate their own; I'll consider being harder on good men who have slight lapses.

Even the Democrat, Evan Bayh, admitted that if Bush were to get rid of Rumsfeld to appease his detractors, it would've been purley politics and unfair to Rummy. If Bush thinks Rums not doing his job...that's one thing, but to can him to placate our enemies is not just politics...it's cowardice.

I urge you all to be circumspect about your criticsm of those who work for Reuters. At least eleven Reuters reporters currently in Iraq are actually special agents of the Mossad. And, three of them also work for the CIA. So as you are critical of the Reuters folks, you also place Mossad agents in jeopardy. Beware!!
