Chris Wallace Leaves me in Tears

Chris Wallace advertised his Sunday news show as a time to put the names of our fallen soldiers in context.
Ted Koppel had simply read the names of the soldiers who have sacrificed all, the last full measure of devotion, for us to live in peace and for the Iraqis to have a unique and blessed chance to find peace and security and democracy. So, Chris Wallace decided to have a show to put those sacrifices in context, and talk about all the good things that the American soldiers had done in Iraq.
So, I tuned in, and I am still sobbing and shaking with anger remembering how he started the show with over fifteen minutes of a rehash of the last 10 days feeding frenzy over the terrible abuses a few soldiers had perpetrated on some Iraqi prisoners.
CONTEXT?!?!
THIS is the context you want me to remember our war dead!!
You garbage, you thoughtless garbage!
I was too upset to watch the "tribute" which came after the filthy trash.
I'll never watch that cruel, demented show ever again.

Chris Wallace had a ten minute special edition in answer of Ted Koppel's Nightline of all the good things that were accomblished by our troops in Iraq since the war. But the program is an hour long. 10 minutes! Koppel spent more than an hour reading the names -- fast. and Wallace gives us 10 minutes. To be fair, I received a mother's day phone call in the middle of his "Tribute" and it was over before I got off the phone, even thought I was brief. But I saw the beginning and ending of the program and that is what prompted my husband and I to write the letter above.

Maybe I'll even leave FreeRepublic.
It seems it's okay now to tell lies about me even here.
So long, everyone.

I'm just wondering if we watched the same show? The Show I watched show schools being opened, hospitals being resupplied, the infrastructure being rebuilt. What show did you see?

Mr. Durbin is disgusting!!!
Brit Hume is the only show I watch now.
The segment on our accomplishments was wonderful. But really, 10 minutes versus Koppel's Hour long show. Not good enough

I'll take what we can get. The 10-minute segment was well done.

FOX News is the #1 news channel and it doesn't broadcast liberal propaganda. I'm sorry if it doesn't measure up to high FReeper standards, but I'd rather watch it than the other "news" channels.AMen to that. I must admit I didn't see it today though.

But really, 10 minutes versus Koppel's Hour long show. Not good enough 6 to 1 is about the standard coverage that anything pro-military, pro-Bush, or otherwise good news gets in relation to the ginned up bad side that the Old Media tries to feed us. Standard ratio.

Here comes trouble...I don't want Tony Snow back but neither am I thrilled with the changes wrought by Chris Wallace.
I see a definite tilt to the left on FNS--except on the panel which I do believe is balanced (in numbers if NOT in gray matter--the conservatives run rings around the libs.)
They ought to dispense with the last segment, Player of the Week or whatever they call it...O.K. to do that on occasion but, all-in-all give more time to the panel.
I thought the tribute to our troops and what they have accomplished was great--just not enough of it, especially after the big build-up.
I never thought Tony's strength was on-camera--not a strong interviewer. A possibility that comes to mind is Linda Chavez...I know there are others, some already at Fox. I like Brian Wilson and John Gibson, too.

"Did you watch the first part of the show?"<
Yes, but it is the final segment that will last in the minds of the people. Had he presented it first, it would have been lost if the coverage of the prison abuses had come at the end.

Don't leave, I've just got to this thread.
Remember this poem? I thought you might like to read it again.
Alone and far removed
Alone and far removed from earthly care
The noble ruins of men lie buried here.
You were strong men, good men
Endowed with youth and much the will to live
I hear no protest from the mute lips of the dead.
They rest; there is no more to give.
So long my comrades,
Sleep ye where you fell upon the field.
But tread softly please
March o'er my heart with ease
March on and on,
But to God alone we kneel.

I have simply given up on watching the Sunday shows, and will only watch Fox News with Brit Hume, O'Reilly, or Hannity on. I am now getting a very good understanding of how it must have been like during Vietnam, with these bastards in the press/t.v. constantly being Chicken Little about every little negative thing. Thank God for Fox News and the internet (even Wallace is on Fox News, I only watch the round table at the end of the show, when Brit, Fred, or Tim Sammon are on).

FreeRepublic is about expressing opionions....and you have yours.
There are those who disagree with you....that's their opinon too...
..and there are those who insult you.....ignore them.
But stand your ground!
