Bump if you're tired of seeing the Iraqi photos
Posted on 05/06/2004 9:32:41 AM PDT by Joe Republc
I wish Drudge would stop it. Enough already. I haven't watched Fox News lately, but if they're doing it still as well, stop it. Enough already.
Bump if you agree.

Pics like these always cause a convulsion in the press.
Remember Rodney King?
It is just something we have to deal with, on a social level.
All politics aside, the pics do not tell the story, but reinforce it in a very emotional way, just like the King case, or the cop beating videos.
We are a nation of knee jerker's when it comes to pics and videos and the media is pushing this button.
We can do little to remove the button or control the media, except by our actions and words.
There are several on this forum who appear to be caught up in the reality game show. This is disappointing, but i will live with it as I do a chronic pain.

ENORMOUS BUMP from me! It's positively sickening how gleeful the media (yes, even FOX, darn it) is about this "scandal".
Equally sickening is how the very same liberal politicians and media who claimed credit for herr slickmeister for the military while they were kickin' butt & takin' names, NOW want to lay ALL the blame for any miscue right at "W"'s feet!

I'm tired of it.
I'm tired of most things that are a part of the evening news broadcasts.
I'm tired of the bickering political ads that are run ad nauseum here in Ohio.
I'm tired of lies, flip flops, 30+ year old military records, accusations, sweat-heart deals, voting records, business dealings, family fortunes, secret societies, pandering to illegals, finger pointing, massive government spending, apologies, nation building, photo ops, polling data, projections, predictions, margins of error, swing states, battleground states, the UN, red vs. blue maps, the phrase, "and I approved this message", outsourcing, price comparisons that are "adjusted for inflation", the non-existant definition of indecency, taxes, the loch ness monster, bigfoot and the theory of Atlantis.
And it's only May................................
And the Goddammned cicadas are coming back this year.
I think I'll go kill some weeds in my yard.

Bump.
I am glad I found FR to talk all this out, vent or whatever. I am over it now, but some may not have had a chance like I have with a lot of free time.
I'll give it 1 more week as headline news tops.

Ah knock it off. This is a serious disaster for the admin. The quicker we realize this, the quicker we can react. The hell it is!
Let President Bush speak from the Oval Office and say that as long as American and Coalition forces are being killed helping old Iraqis cross the street or being blown up by suicide bombers, we will no longer use psychological events to gain information from them.
Henceforth, we will start simply executing them on the spot....and then perhaps throw their bodies into Saddam's plastic shredder.
PLUG THAT THING BACK IN!!!!!

I haven't seen the photos, have no urge to look at them either. I just wish the talk shows would drop this non-story. The Army chain of command knew about it 3 days after it happened, the people responsible are being disciplined and the only way the press found out about it was because the Pentagon brass issued a report.
How would Clinton put it? "It's old news, let's move on"

One point about these pics that gets lost in the media hype:
These prisoners are mostly the 'insurgents' who have come into Iraq from elsewhere (Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iran, etc.) with the expressed purpose of confronting Coalition/American troops.
This is not a 'we are being playground bullies' situation. This is still war against people who want to kill us. These prisoners are from those people who want to kill us.
