Bump if you're tired of seeing the Iraqi photos
Posted on 05/06/2004 9:32:41 AM PDT by Joe Republc
I wish Drudge would stop it. Enough already. I haven't watched Fox News lately, but if they're doing it still as well, stop it. Enough already.
Bump if you agree.

Tired of em but you know 1/2 of the folks upset about them would be equally upset if Ashcroft tried to suppress far worse photos on the porn net sites because he'd be violating "Free Speech".
Frankly I didn't see any scars, bruises, etc. If all it takes to break an Iraqi is making him touch another nekkid man or having a woman laugh at his pee pee they are weaker than I ever dreamed.

We've got 135,000 people over there, not including contractors. There appear to be a couple dozen screwups.
I am heartily unimpressed.

I thought we were conducting a war! I was wrong, we are conducting a Waaaah, waaah! A Lou Reed song comes to mind:
Vicious
you hit me with a flower
You do it every hour
oh, baby, you're so vicious
And...
If you're going to Abu Ghraib,
Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
If you're going to Abu Ghraib
You're gonna meet some gentle people there

These new photos add very little to the story that's not already known. Their supposed news value is outweighed by the damage they can cause to our troops. Im not advocating news censorhip but this is a story in which the particulars are already known and are being vigorously invesitgated. Releasing yet another daily photo of a naked prisoner accomplishes nothing journalistically or legally, but it does keep the story at the top of every Al Jazeera news hour.
At a certain point, photos are just published because journalists are lazy, and it's easy to simply publish another shocking visual than to do some actual news gathering and analysis. There comes a point of diminishing news value, when we cross from journalism to a form of "news pornography". I think we've just about reached that point.

Yes start running the burned and tortured contractor hanging from the bridge. I am sick of this, and there is no comparision. I want every Muslim out of the United States now!

You got that right! The pictures have been published, the word is out. Anymore and the media and reporters are abetting the enemy and endangering the soldiers over there fighting for them.
And, I will take it as such. I care more about protecting the reputation and lives of our military than being able to see trash photos.

I wish for every picture there was one right along side showing the soldiers taking school supplies to help Iraqi school children, showing them building schools, bringing food and clean water in to the Iraqis AND fighting the terrorists that want to be dictators over the Iraqis.
