Is anyone of the Democratic persuasion welcome here, or are you crazy Republicans going to kick me off? Do any of you know how freaking ridiculous things are getting with George Bush in office? Let's do the list: assaults the environment, rising unemployment, rising gas prices, rising hatred of us across the globe, a phony war with over 700 Americans dead, POW torture, overtime pay almost done away with.....the list goes on and on. It's CRAZY.

Well, there is AmericasDebate.com. Problem is, it doesn't get the volume that FR pulls in, and it's not as user-friendly (at least to my mind). If anyone knows about a forum that has all those qualities, I'd be interested as well, but I don't think any exists yet. It's hard to attract large numbers of people to a forum unless it's geared towards something specific that the posters can all have in common with each other.

Well, Joe, I can't speak for anyone else, but my answer to your question, "Are Democrats welcome here," is a resounding NO! I might welcome genuinely civil, moderate-to-conservative Democrats from time to time. Examples from elected officials: John Breaux, Evan Bayh, Zell Miller. But I absolutely cannot abide true, hard-core Leftists. Cannot abide them. That's a personal answer from this long-time FR participant.

As to the bigger picture, this forum was established by its founder/owner as a site for conservative opinion and activism. While I in no way presume to speak for the site ownership, in my opinion, allowing those who are Left-of-center to populate this forum in any significant numbers would completely change its character and purpose.

Judging by your comments at the top of this thread (a type of thread we here frown on as a vanity, BTW), your purpose is not civil discourse, but disruption. To which I say, take it elsewhere, bub!

Joe, you need to step back the hot rhetoric in your post and look at the facts. It is patently false to say the Bush administration is launching an "assault" on the environment. Delaying regulations on arsenic is not as some in your party have implied Bush adding more arsenic to our drinking water. Yes Bush is supported by corporations, but so are Democrats and Bush is also screamed at on a daily basis by Democrats for not creating enough new jobs and letting gas prices rise. And to imply that we live in an us versus them (i.e. corporations versus average citizens) is divisive and the point of view of simpletons. The record of elected Democrats in office to work on these problems is also pretty abysmal. Democrats in office have never been able to reconcile the dilemma with their environmental agenda and a sound economic and energy policy. In fact they don't even try, they simply lie about the GOP position, block any attempt to tap into new petroleum and natural gas reserves, and offer no truly pragmatic policy objectives. With respect to Iraq, when Bush took office the time to deal with Saddam Hussein was way overdue. Our efforts there today are a part of that process. I think it is objective to say that more often than not the most dishonest of elected officials are Democrats. And in the last several years I have only seen it get worse. Your party has a lot of work to do in terms of ethical problems, embracing personal responsibility and accountable, and engaging in honest debate. This should incense you and make you consider leaving the Democratic party. Because the Democratic Party as it is now only serves the partisans, not the people. I would say you are welcome on FR as long as your debate is honest and not full of pure invective and name calling.
