FR Exclusive: AP SPIKES JOHN O'NEILL - SWIFT BOAT VETS STORY
Tuesday, May 4, 2004 | Kristinn

Posted on 05/04/2004 6:47:21 PM PDT by kristinn

The Associated Press has spiked reporting on the press conference this morning in Washington, D.C. by John O'Neill and Swift Boat Veterans for Truth where they accused fellow Vietnam veteran and Swift boat unit member Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), the presumed Democratic party nominee for president, of being "unfit to be commander in chief."

The stunning revelation was confirmed by the AP's Washington bureau this evening. A spokeswoman for the AP stated that the wire service had sent a reporter to cover the press conference. However, she said the AP decided against running a news article about it because, "It does not further the anti-Kerry Vietnam veteran story any."

Call these numbers tomorrow, not tonight because you'll just get the night staff. The decision makers work the day shift. I've already called both bureaus this evening.

The phone number for the AP's Washington, D.C. bureau is (202) 776-9400.

The phone number for the AP's New York City headquarters is (212) 621-1500. Ask to speak to the president of AP as that is who the D.C. bureau chief anwers to.

Just visited with a lady named Annie, I think, at the AP National desk. Politely explained why I was calling, and got this: "Can you hold for a second?" She came back a few seconds later, and said "Sorry, we don't do Presidential politics. You'll have to call the DC bureau for that."

Just spoke to a rude, fast-speaking New Yorker named Adam who said "wejustmadethedecisionnottocoverthenewsconferenceandthatsit."

I then asked him whether they would have been more eager to cover the story if President Bush had been the star of the story and he had another rude answer for that.

Very interesting...

It'll be on-line again also, provided you have Windows Media. Real Player was screwing-up for the folks.

I thought everyone had everything these days.

That pretty much sums up that AP could care less about the truth when it comes to reporting news. Disgusting media outlet and all the newspaper are part of the AP wire service which means they are getting biased as well as no news in some instances from AP.

Thanks for the report!

Not everyone, BSF, not everyone...

I knew I would get myself in trouble with lumping everyone in the same mold. LOL There is a large part of the American population to this day, whether they lived through the experience of actually watching Vietnam on their television sets at the time, or indoctrinated through the decades at Liberal college institutions, brainwashed into believing everything Kerry said then, and is saying now, and not weighing the facts of the case that John O'Neill laid out in 1971, and still remains adamant in his facts today.

I found it unbelieveable and outrageous that John Kerry called 2.8 million US military personnel rapists, murderers and baby killers. It's sort of like condemning 250,000 brave US military personnel currently in Iraq for the shameful acts that only 6 were directly involved in, in the abuse of a number of Iraqi prisoners of war.

The Democrats in my family are typical Democrats. No matter what Bush says or does, it centers around Enron or Halliburton.

They hold Bush totally responsible for 9/11 and said that everything was going fine until Bush took us to war in Afghanistan and Iraq. They keep telling me that I don't know what I'm talking about and to quit reading right winged newspapers. I just tell them that I didn't realize the Washington ComPost, the NY and LA Slimes, and USA Yesterday were right winged newspapers. LOL

As you may or may not be aware, it's worse/better than that. The AP/media relationship is a CONJUGAL one. Not only is the AP owned lock, stock, and barrel by the major media outlets, but, as a cooperative of the elite media, they were able to secure tax exempt status for the AP also. Neat huh?

Simply amazing what a "free" peoples don't know, eh?

It's no wonder the AP slime artists get away with what they do and with such relative ease.

Precious few apparently aren't aware they're recieving a *sign* whenever they see "The Associated Press" on any rags article.

A "Stop" sign to be exact.

...to read no further.

And I suspect that even fewer are aware the AP, in many cases, prepares several different versions of the same story so's their "product" will have a broader appeal to their clients/owners. One is able to "pick and choose" the version that best fits their agenda, audience, or advertisers. The WSJ and the LALA Times may run the same but different stories from the same source on the same subject. Could get confusing, eh?

And I suspect you're spot-on, again, FGS.

"One is able to "pick and choose" the version that best fits their agenda, audience, or advertisers. The WSJ and the LALA Times may run the same but different stories from the same source on the same subject. Could get confusing, eh?"

Y'know there could be another plausable explaination for such deviations -- besides the absense of the characher of the liars -- my friend.

What if the "Big Bug(s)" who're behind the Liberal-Socialist propaganda organ known as The Associated Press provide just the topics & slant to their AP "Staff Writer" quislings seeded across the nation at the various "member" rags?

Think about it, the instructions to the brainstem scribes might even include finite details such as what "hot words" are to be used & the overall the intended reaction being sought.

The quisling brainstem adds *local* flavor and is essentially, "playing the room."

~eh?

The Liberal-Socialist lamestream quisling's are capable of virtually anything since its a proven fact they have no depth to which they'd go.

...to promote their wicked Liberal-Socialist agenda.

There's not a doubt in my mind the "underlings" are subjected daily to messages from the AP muckity mucks; overt or otherwise(not unlike the networks I suspect). The types of stories that get released under the AP header will speak volumes to the astute, aspiring, upwardly mobile neophite journalist. How to "get ahead" in the organization is probably their primary goal and "proper" story development is the key to their success???

To help the upwardly mobile neophite, they have developed the AP STYLEBOOK(amongst others), which on the surface seems innocuous enough, but has the potential for being a template(good or bad) for the news. Of course we know that any AP "template" wouldn't exactly be a standard bearer for the conservative cause.

The Beat Goes On...

Rush brought up earlier that now the mainstream media can't do the Swift Boats vets stories because they've been avoiding them for so long. It would make the press look like fools for ignoring them till now.
