"It is this Wahhabi version of Islam which has infected the religion itself, now finding adherents in almost all branches and sects, especially the Shiites" This part of it (at least) is complete crap - - Wahhabism and Shiaism are diametrically opposed. Orthodox wahabbis regard Shiism as apostasy and therefore a capital offence. Wahabbism was certainly not intitially a political movement and has had no effect on those Muslim countries which formed the heart of the Ottoman empire. It has however been successful in the poorer countries which have been susceptible to Al Saud money - Afghanistan, Sudan, Pakistan. The majority of muslims look on the Wahabi as we look on Jehovah's witnesses. The difference being that Jehovah's witnesses don't have millions to spend and a motivation to kill everything that doesn't agree with them (unless there is something that they are not telling us)

Excellant link thanks.
this comment:
We would be living in theocratic dictatorship all across the world. There would be no democracy, no elections and no public accountability for any act. The only arbiter would be the Quranic prescriptions for all times in the future.
Wonder if the violent bombings around elections worldwide can be associated with the bullying of Muslims to abolish elections as stated above.

hmmmm. This sure is all making the big picture more visible.
Those of you that have known this must get it out to others in a clear and easy explanation.
Many of us have not understood the whole thing but have trusted Bush is doing the right thing as a God fearing leader.
Seems he is stuck in a tough spot trying to hold back the tsunami but not offending non-christian Americans to the danger we are facing.

Frankly I dont care who he offends. Having said that there is no point in retreating into a "two legs bad, four legs good" stance. If the enemy of virulent wahabism is to be beaten (for the sake of the muslim world as much as the christian) then there is requirement to understand who is the enemy and who is potentially an ally.

Where these Gorrillas actually early Muslims in the Phillipines? Apparently, they were there before the U.S. arrived in our first shot at "imperialism" after the Spanish - American War, which was quickly abandoned after World War II. The fanatic attacks of the Moros in the Southern Philippine Islands prompted the U.S. Army to adopt the M1911 .45 ACP pistol because the .38 cal service revolver was deemed inadequate, IIRC.

The word is getting out Yes, but it's discouraging that that the majority membership of one US party is in complete denial/disagreement with everything said in the article.
We must defend them from terrorism too, even as they continually try to defeat us & remove us from power.

There is a very simple solution to all this. Disconnect the mullahs from their oil revenues.

And most of us are descended from Mohammed, too. I forget the details, but at some point some Euro royals married some royals or nobles who descended from Mohammed. I know that you would not have Christians marrying Muslims (and remaining Christian), nor are you supposed to have Muslims becoming anything but Muslim, but somehow the blood of Mohammed got into the Euro royals. Does anyone remember the details?

The battle for this century is going to be north/south rather than east/west.
There will come a time of a war that may make WWII look small by comparison. Europe may fall by default but more likely is that as in previous global wars it will be the battle ground.
They have had multiple waves of muslim invasions over the centuries. The difference in this conflict is that most of Europe now has a very significant Muslim population already there. The fifth column is already there. All of Europe will be Falluja.

The times surrounding the Medici's & some kind of connection with a Moor came to mind, but that wouldn't be enough generations ago. A bride given to at least one of the the Crusaders would add a few hundred years, so more generations, makes it more probable. Course, most European houses tend to trace themselves back to one of Noah's sons, so it's possible there is some kind of earlier connection.
The only royal line I have gone into in any depth is Scandinavian & that one went through Saxony. Later, it reached out & got into England & France. Course that took it throughout the rest of Europe.
There weren't too many records kept for women & children were raised in the faith of their fathers for a whole lot of recorded history.
Your handle makes me have to ask, do you descend from a de Monfort?

mean lunch lady:
but what exactly is a caliphate?
Not exactly exact, but a rough equivalent is "emperor." Bear in mind that to Islam, separation of church and state just does not compute, so for the shias especially the caliph also has a connotation roughly corresponding to pope.
The shias regard the caliphate as hereditary; for the sunnis, the caliphate is elective, and does not depend on heredity. The last important caliph, the head of the Ottoman empire, was sunni. For an outline of the Shia and Sunni, see
Sunni, Shia, and Sufi Islam.
