A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day....04-30-04; 05-01,02-04....T.G.I.F. at the Finest

A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest!   We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.
5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

Happy Friday, everyone!!
The calendar is quite appropriate because I've been toiling in my yard much of the morning, and will be going back out momentarily.

Working on a long raised flower bed between two trees so I can put some new plants in it. Busy cleaning out the small oak leaves from across the street that rain on my yard annually - sigh - they imbed in the border grass, and have to be coaxed out foot by foot.

This last day of April is a perfect one for the task, and we might get much-needed rain tomorrow and Sunday!
(Dixie sass's Rain Dance worked..:))

Yep, Atkins is the way to go but I have some extenuating circumstances. I'm slowly loosing weight, too, but I'm on cer
tain meds that encourage weight gain/inhibit weight loss. They also seem to make me crave sweets which I normally didn't before. I'm holding the course, though(well, I did cheat this last weekend in Nashville when I ate that chocolate raspberry cheesecake. Talk about falling off the wagon!). I wish I wouldn't miss sweets like the book promised! I just don't buy them or have them around the house.

My optimum wt. is 120. I'm afraid I'll never see that wt. again but at least I'm losing some and not gaining hand over fist which is what I was doing when I started the meds. I can't afford the new clothes, either!

My hubby is a runner/cyclist who can eat anything and not gain weight. He needs carbs. in fact. Dilemma. I need a cook!

Enjoy your yard work ! ;^)

My Dad came up this afternoon. We went to Subway for lunch.

He's going to stay overnight, and then tomorrow we are going to my aunt's house. Her 87th birthday is this weekend (or is it 88?).

So, anyway, my Freeping time will be limited the rest of the day and part of tomorrow due to Daddy-sitting for a while here.

So I'll see ya'll around as time permits.

Everybody enjoy your weekend ! ....

Good evening everyone.

I'm depressed and a bit angry right now.

How come it is that whenever I want to go to a Freep that IO have to get a ride for and amnage to gte someone who's willing to take me, I run into roadblocks?

In this case it's my mom, don't get my wrong, I love my mom very much, but sometimes her fear for me can get out of hand.

I mean when I first told her (remembering the last time I went to a DC Support the Troops Rally) I told her so she won't get worried about where I was.

So I got the name and phone number of the Freeper who's picking me up, thinking that would satisfy her.

Well!

When I told her it wasn't Sauropod that I going to DC with, she flipped!

She had no problem with me going with someone I went with before and when they had someone else riding with us.

But when she heard it was a male Freeper and one I didn't know too well and I don't know if there is anybody else going with us, she told me she was not for that.

I guess in order to ease her anxoity, I should not go to the Freep in DC tomorrow.

I feel so frustrated and so embarrassed about telling everyone I was going, that to chaneg my mind now is like I was lying to everybody. But like I said before, I love my mom and don't want for her to be worried and have a bad day.

I think I'll just forget about going to anyof these events and stay hoime no matter how miserable and bored I get.

I'll just be content to post on Fr and look and read about everyone else's activities.

And rant.

I hate being unable to go and do the things like Freeps and rallies and campaign events or not being able to donate to the BUSH/CHENEY Re-Election.

I guess I will keep praying for thier re-election and forget about trying to meet President Bush or any others.

I am depressed!

Perhaps I'm out of line on this, Pippin, but I definitely feel you should go.

It isn't as if you are a reckless teenager - you are well into adulthood, and your mother should realize she equipped you with good judgment. She should not stop you from enjoying life while you can.

This is one of the most historic of times in America, and you want to contribute to the events in a meaningful way.

I heartily encourage you to GO FOR IT, Pippin, and build another good memory.
She should get over it eventually, but if not, it is is something important to you, and she needs to respect that - - - just my opinion.

"Perhaps I'm out of line on this, Pippin, but I definitely feel you should go."

Pippin, I agree with LadyX. Live your life, Pippin. You are an adult. I think you should go, won't it be wonderful to be around like minded people for a day as opposed to your job, where you are surrounded by liberals. I know you love your Mom and she loves and worries about you... But, I think you should go and have fun!!!!

Sorry, I just had to 'butt' in :-)

I'm so glad for you, Pippin, knowing how special the D.C. Group is, as are those from your area who will be joining them.

We out here in the boonies envy you the opportunity, and the company of such fine folks!
Do please have a wonderful time, and afterward give us a special report here at the Finest.

It will sustain you when you are trapped in a cubicle at work, surrounded by liberals.
They will merely be dour and disgruntled with life, and you will know you did something significant and positive!

I agree,you need to go..

I lived in Virginia for a year and wasn't able to make it to one event.
I was invited to their parties and didn't make it.
Now i'm back in New York and regret not taking the time to go to atleast one.

I am still on their ping list and have the blessings of Kristenn and all building the Buffalo Chapter.
Please tell everyone I said hello too!

Take some pics, if you don't have web space, I do.
e-mail me the pics and I will post them for you!
RusJulT@aol.com

Now you have a mission to complete.. : )
