Downtown Little Rock is the scene of an intense search after police arrested one man and found weapons, ammunition and a gas mask on a rooftop.
The situation began Wednesday evening after the suspect, Gared Tumblesome, tried to check into a downtown hotel, claiming to be an Air Force Special Forces member. Hotel employees became suspicious and alerted police. Tumblesome was later arrested as he reportedly tried to climb down from a rooftop in the 200 block of West 2nd Street. A search of the rooftop revealed the weapons and ammunition.
Police are still searching for another man, believed to have been staying with Tumblesome at another hotel. Police helicopters are hovering over downtown Little Rock as officers scour the area.
The Air Force has been investigating Tumblesome and claims he made about knowledge of military information.
I never saw that flick. Just saw Gibson's "Conspiracy Theory" for the first time on HBO a few weeks back. Awesome "mind control" flick.

First item: Two fatal Pope County wrecks in past week

Two men, one from Atkins, died as result of two car wrecks in Pope County during the past week.
Daniel Lee Tumbleson, 26, of the Oak Grove area, reportedly lost control of a 1994 Camaro on Highway 164 East around 1 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20 and struck a utility pole. State Police said he was traveling at a high rate of speed and was ejected from the vehicle.
Jason W. Horn, 26, of Atkins was a passenger in the vehicle and was treated at the scene by Pope County Emergency Service workers. Horn was wearing a seat belt and Tumbleson was not, according to the report. The incident was just west of the intersection of Highway 105 and 164.
Local people were reminded of the death of Tumbleson’s father, Carl L. Tumbleson, Dec. 25, 1980, at the age of 21 in a car wreck on Highway 105 just north of Atkins.
Carl Robert Smith, 41, of Dardanelle was driving a 1923 Model T Ford westward on Highway 64 just past the Galla Creek Bridge, in the rain, when he apparently lost control, crossed the center line and collided with three eastbound vehicles. The accident occured Saturday, July 24 at 4:41 p.m. He was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
Police said the vehicles with which he collided were a Buick Century driven by Jim Harlson of Morrilton, a Toyota SUV driven by Barbara Drake of Dover, and another Buick Century driven by James Dykes of Russellville.
Also injured in the incident were Michael Williams, 17, of Lesley, a passenger in Smith’s vehicle, and Donna Young, 55, of Russellville, a passenger in Dyke’s vehicle. She was treated at a hospital.

WASHINGTON – The National Corn Growers Association has presented Rep. Charles Stenholm, D-Texas, its prestigious NCGA President’s Award for his steadfast support and true commitment to U.S. corn growers.
“Rep. Stenholm was chosen to receive the 2004 President’s Award because of his bipartisan leadership role in the shaping of today’s farm bill and farm programs,” said NCGA President Dee Vaughan, a grower from Dumas, Texas. “His staunch support for corn growers as well as cotton growers, ranchers and other producers throughout the U.S. has earned him thanks and respect from all concerned with U.S. agriculture.”
Stenholm received the award at the recent NCGA’s Corn Congress in Washington. The agenda involved state delegates storming the Hill to inform members of Congress and staff on issues important to corn growers, electing new officers and ratifying the election of Gerald Tumbleson to first vice president.
"I am extremely honored to receive the President's Award from the National Corn Growers Association,” said Stenholm. “I appreciate the leadership that Dee Vaughan has shown during his term as president. I have also been pleased to support many of the priorities that NCGA members and staff have advocated for on behalf of America's corn growers.
“On top of that list, I was an original co-sponsor of the VEETC legislation introduced in the House, and I supported the NCGA's efforts to enact a Renewable Fuel Standard for the last several years.”
“It has been a privilege to work with Rep. Stenholm and the House Agriculture Committee,” said Vaughan. “Stenholm supports common sense regulations and government and, as one of the few farmers in Congress, his door has always been open to NCGA and its members.
Previous recipients of NCGA’s President’s Award include Leo Liebowitz, chairman and CEO of Getty Petroleum Marketing, Inc.; Sens. On the day of tumbleson's arrest, April 28, 2004, there was a fundraiser for a former Lt governor of Arkansas in Little Rock.
There is also a Tumbleson trucking company in North Little Rock.
There was a report last week that Cheney was coming to Hot Springs on Tues. but there was nothing in the Sun. paper about it.
