I thought that was the plan all along, and who do you think they will bring in to save the party?

I read this earlier on WND and was hoping I'd see it here. Great post!

Nope. Too late. They would rather lose than to admit they messed up.

There was a growing "dump Clinton" buzz among Dems in May & June of 1992 also.

Kerry has won the delegates to be the nominee.

I don't think so for a couple of reasons.

First is the fact that I think Hillary can't run. She has some very serious legal issues swirling around her at this point. Second is the fact that John Kerry wants it too bad. He would have to drop out and i doubt he can.

1980 Roger Mudd-Teddy Kennedy exchange through which it dawned on America that a senator in search of a verb wasn't really equipped to be a president.

I probably should know, but can anyone tell me what this refers to?

When Eagleton resigned as VP candidate, the DNC held a "special" convention of just big-wigs, who nominated Sargent Shriver. No "rules" required.

Bill Clinton just announced the publication date of his new memoir: Late June.

Too bad this isn't the title of the book. Might describe some ex-girlfriend.

This is getting oh so crazy. While we hear whispers of Kerry losing credibility with his base and the Village Voice asking he drop out, he and GWB are tied in the foxnews polls and have been for several weeks. Much too early for anyone to predict he's imploding and frankly I'd rather he do it AFTER the convention.

I put forward this hypothesis over a year ago when it was still the 9 Dwarves and nobody believed it. Now these pundits are finally coming around.

Except now I don't believe it. The nation as a whole is not New Jersey, with a popular retired senator coming back as a white knight to save the state from the evil Republicans. Furthermore, Kerry is not Torricelli and won't be pushed around. He had courage once, and I think he still has enough to resist the Clintons. Even if they somehow push him out all they'll succeed in doing is throwing the party into disarray and handing the election to GWB.

I just don't see it happening now.

It's the Jersey Shuffle -- not the Torricelli Option.

At the last minute, Jacques Kerry drops out, and in comes - - - "Frankie the Fossil" Lautenberg!

(just kidding)

At the Democrats convention in Los Angeles in 1960 I sat with my parents witnessing ballot after ballot from undecided delegates. Finally they settled on JFK. I went outside and saw him pull up in a fancy white(could have been a horse) limo. He entered the convention center and delivered an electrified speech accepting the nomination. While the party was deeply devided going into the convention they emerged with what they felt was a possible contender that could beat Nixon.

44 years later when you see the way that democrats deep sixed Dean and made Kerry their nominee solely due to polling data, indicates to me that history will repeat itself.

Assumming that the rock solid vote today is about 44/44 R/D, the swing vote at about 9% will decide our next election. Everyone knows (and admits) now that Kerry will never be able to convince a majority of the 9% to vote for him. Hillary would be able to ride the "white horse", avoid venting, inspire the dem base, get 99% positive pub from the media and get a chunk of the swing female vote. It could even be said that at such a late stage, the RNC and BC2004 may have spent most of their bullets on Kerry. While the pubbies would rise up against Hillary and open their pocket books for more contributions, the money stream would be too late to pre-book advertising by November. The onslaught of positive media hype for the first female president with a Clinton last name coupled with her VP selection of Edwards and Clark as Secretary of Defense might be overwhelming for Bush.
I pray that my senario and history flashback is way off base. I do worry.

Dont count Kerry out
he is still running even or ahead in Bush in Key battleground states in some polls
Kerry is dangerous and it will not matter if he is an uncharasmatic dull liberal dink if there are more problems in Iraq etc.
I just hope that Kerry begins receding fast

The Torricelli Option

Too bad the Pubbies have scruples. Otherwise they should have performed the same manuver with Bob Dole.

One of my thoughts on Hillary! running in 2004 is whether she really wants to inherit the war in Iraq and the War On Terror. If she really wants to build up socialism, is the way to do it in a 50/50 country to declare defeat by insurgents in Iraq, bring home the world's most feared military, and divert the military funding (again) to social programs?

Or, would she rather wait until 2008 and hope that either: 1) the war goes well and the people weary of Bush and Republicans, or 2) the war goes poorly and the people weary of Bush and Republican?

If she does run in 2004 and wins, then she will have to do something about Iraq and Afghanistan. If she waits, then it's Bush's problem to deal with.

Well, let's see over the last month the Bush-Cheney Campaign has spent 60 million dollars on TV advertising and the Daily Tracking polls show the two either tied or Kerry Leading. Somehow, I do not think Kerry will be dumped.
