The facts remain thus: At the time he publically threw his medals away it was understood by all that he threw them away- not his "ribbons"! He didn't correct the press at the time which reported that he had trhown them away? Ten years later- Kerry has these medals on the wall of his office?

I watched Kerry reach with his right hand into the breast pocket of his fatigue shirt. The hand emerged with several of the ribbons... Kerry had arrived here with only the ribbons he wore on his shirt

Still not very helpful. Did he throw only those ribbons he took out of his pocket (which could have belonged to anyone), or ribbons he removed from the outside of his shirt, that is, the ones he had been wearing?
