Discussion Thread: Kerry's Appearance on GMA Regarding Medals
Good Morning America - ABC News
Posted on 04/26/2004 5:09:02 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest
Let's see if I can kick this off.
During the promo at the beginning of the show, where he was standing by live in West Virginia, and throughout the interview itself, Kerry tried hard to keep this huge "what me worry?" smile plastered on his face. He coupled it with numerous condescending head shakes that seemed to imply "these poor benighted fools who so miserably misunderstand the greatness that is John Kerry."

I don't know who his handlers are, but yesterday Governor Shaheen (his campaign chairperson) was literally shaking and quivering as she spoke. Either she is scared out of her wits, or so angry she is out of control. Her voice trembled so much that I wondered how she ever ran successfully for public office.

You know, between this thread and the after-action reports of the abortion march, I am starting the think my Dad was onto something back in the seventies when he was complaining about fluoridation. SOMETHING has driven half the population plumb crazy, and mean as sh!thouse rats.
B.G. Burkett dissects J.F'en Kerry on page 136-137(?) if my memory serves me correct.

Kerry is rambling around an answer without giving a definitive answer. "There was a great wrenching about the whole thing." [huh?] They voted to throw. 'I didn't have my medals, so I threw my ribbons.
But he said they voted on this the night before. So he could've tossed his medals had he wanted to.

I don't have a clue what he is talking about...the ribbon signifies the medal....they are the same......your are given two ribbons(Bronze Star)..one tiny one so you can wear in civilian clothes, the next ribbon you wear on your class A's, the medal itself you wear on more formal uniforms like dress blues......they don't give you three, so you have an extra one to throw over a fence!......what a POS.
How dare you question his patriotism?
[lol. Terry Mc was on FoxNews earlier. He repeated a dozen times 'Kerry the war hero.' But both Mc and Kerry never get to Kerry's substance; rather they revert to Bush/Cheney attacks. Kerry is an empty ketchup bottle.]

I find myself wondering: if you're one of Kerry's senior aides, perhaps his communications director, what do you say to Kerry after his GMA appearance? "Yeah Senator...you did uhhh..great. Now get in your SUV, and let's get the hay outta here."

Kerry is rambling around an answer without giving a definitive answer. That reminds me of another lie that Gibson caught Kerry in:
He had two quotes from Kerry. In the first quote, Kerry stated that he had on reflection made a conscious decision to throw only his ribbons, not his medals themselves. In the second, Kerry said that the reason he didn't throw his medals was that he didn't have time to go home and get them.
When Gibson asked which quote was correct, Kerry just launched again into his bluster about VRWC, W's National Guard service, etc.
To: Tijeras_Slim
Clinton was the same way. He told his lies so vividly, even he believed them.
And the libs ate it up because he was such a "fun" liar. They will turn on Kerry because he lies down to them.Kerry has absolutely no sense of humor or capacity for self-deprecation.

If the media weren't so much into the ABB (Anybody But Bush), they would really have fun taking Kerry down. He is such rich fodder [snicker, I typed that and then thought a moment about what I typed]. He doesn't need the Conservative attack dogs after him; his own mouth is doing him in. The media could really have fun if they weren't so steeped in their agenda.

Charlie Gibson nailed the salient point when he said:
Gibson:
Senator...is it not fair to draw the inference that, when trying appeal to the anti-war people in 1971 you said--- as in that interview---"it was the medals".
And then in 1984---when the people who supported the war were giving you political problems---you then said "No, I didn't throw the medals away". 13 years later.
Kerry's trying to muddy the water by saying this is about whether he said "medals or ribbons". As quoted above, Charlie nailed the point. If even a lib like Charlie gets it, this isn't going away.

Excellent point. You know a Dem candidate is in trouble when a certified member of the liberal establishment effectively calls him a double-dealing, lying hypocrite to his face!

I made fresh coffee and missed Ole Joe. Oh well, at least I have nice fresh steaming coffee, mmmmmmm!

He doesn't need the Conservative attack dogs after him; his own mouth is doing him in. The GWB campaign ad I see the most is my favorite with the "I actually voted for the 87 billion...before I voted against it."
It's beautiful. :)
