Let's see if I can kick this off.

During the promo at the beginning of the show, where he was standing by live in West Virginia, and throughout the interview itself, Kerry tried hard to keep this huge "what me worry?" smile plastered on his face. He coupled it with numerous condescending head shakes that seemed to imply "these poor benighted fools who so miserably misunderstand the greatness that is John Kerry."

One thing painfully (for Kerrey supporters), obvious from this morning's interview: Over the years, Kerrey has deceptively tailored his description of the events that day, to fit the audience.

Another....Kerrey was reduced to the old "change the subject" sctsick. He kept changing the subject to Bush's NG service instead of responding to Gibson's questions.

FOXNews has reported on the GMA confrontation, but without video. Fingers crossed ABC is witholding it till after tonight's Peter Jennings report. (fingers crossed, but not holding my breath.)

I will watch NIGHTLINE tonight to see if Koppell picks up the GMA match...(not yet a torch).

Only the threads here on Free Republic. I did get about 10 minutes on Neal Boortz radio live on Friday discussing the Silver Star (I didn't realize that Kerry's Bronze Star was ALSO changed/signed by Lehman in the mid 80's when I was on with Neal, but I faxed him a copy of the Silver Star citations.)

Ironically, it's Kerry's own web site that has all five versions of his Silver Star and Bronze Star citations, including the final ones signed by John Lehman in the mid-80's when Lehman was SecNAV under Reagan.

Also, Kerry's web site has the revision DD-215 signed in March 2001 that adds 4 bronze stars to Kerry's Vietnam Service medal, and the original DD-214 from the 1970's at Kerry's discharge.

Or, at least, Kerry's web site had those documents on Friday when I printed copies!

I don't think it ever got to the point that married men with children were being drafted. During WWII yes, eventually, I'm pretty sure.

Married with children automatically got you a draft classification of 3A. You didn't have to request it, it just showed up in the mail.

You were then spared the horrors of war, but not necessarily the horrors of marriage.

The publisher of a book about the veterans by Mr. Butler and David Thorne, another friend and veteran, suddenly insisted that Mr. Kerry be listed as an author.

David Thorne was Kerry's brother-in-law at that time, brother of his first wife.

Limbaugh is saying that ABC/GMA lowered the boom on Jean because Jean lied to Jennings in 2003. Bull. Toon lied to the media for years. They bent over and grabbed their ankles. Something else is going on.

MSNBC covering this really good! and I bet you're already listening to Rush, who is tying in the significance of the week-end Broder column and one I haven't read, by Walter Cronkite.

Rush thinks the attack on Kerrey has begun. I"m not that opitimistic, but it's a GREAT start on the week.

Kerry's reaction fits his MO. He wants it both ways. When he discovered that throwing away your medals was politically a negative, he came up with the story about his ribbons and someone else's medals. Kerry realized that he couldn't walk away from the story entirely, especially since he has the medals displayed prominently in his office. However, the fly in the ointment is that we now have the citations, released by him, signed by Lehman. If he indeed requested replacment medals, he has a real problem, i.e., he was telling the truth initially, lied in the 80s and is lying now.

Lehman could answer a lot of questions on this citation issue if he wants to.

I doubt that Lehman knows much about it. The matter was probably handled administratively and the signatures done by machine.
