Apparently she finally went too far - and I can't say I disagree with that conclusion.

(For the record, I didn't hit abuse on her, or request this result in any way - I'd rather she was here for people to bat around, when she pops up her liberal head up like a gopher.)

Least Brave - Democrat, Swift Boat captain, 3 Purple Hearts, several other decorations for valor.

To whom are you referring here? The self-admitted war criminal?

To quote another great American - "There you go again."

I tend to agree with you. Our family knew the Marine that was killed a few weeks ago. I'm sure you saw his picture on Drudge--he was the one laying on the ground with all of the soldiers praying around him.

He wrote home a week before he was killed, that although he missed his family terribly, he knew that what he was doing in Iraq was his purpose.

His life was no less heroic than Tillman's life. I'm really torn about this. Tillman was obviously someone with great character, but it's the special recognition of him b/c he was a sports celebrity that doesn't sit well with me.

"Why does God let MEN like this die young and jackasses like Ted "the drunk"
Kennedy live an eternity(on earth)?"

That's one of the questions I intend to ask the Almighty when I meet Him.

I think Ted Williams was a Marine pilot. I seem to recall him being in the same squadron as John Glenn.

I don't follow sports that close anymore, so wasn't familiar with Tillman. What comes to my mind after reading post 4, is that this guy was what heros were made of. So many times we see movies stars or sports figures receive heaping loads of adulation for next to nothing of real importance. Then guys like this go silently into the night, the media discounting their purchases in blood.

Tillman was evidently the real thing when it comes to the MVPs of life, or humanity. He left the good life to provide some pay-back. In a short period of time he gave the maximum pay-back.

My hat's off to you Tillman. You did us prowd. I can think of a number of loud mouths in the limelight that will never be fit to kiss your feet, but I can't think of a one of them you'd have to look up to. You were the man Tillman.

for once, a professional sports player who merits the title Hero.

I wish I had known of him before now, and am grateful to know of him even now.

May God give him honor and rest.

perhaps because we are so dense that we need object lessons in Good Examples... and in Bad Examples.

We've lost over 600 'Pat Tillmans' in this war so far.

There will be more.

Judging by how Pat entered into the Service and how he conducted himself...he would just want to be considered "One of the Band of Brothers".

He has, and has everyone else serving now, earned it.

In the world of sports, we've see people complaining when they get offered "only" 3, 5, or even 10-15 million dollars.

Words can't express what Pat Tillman did.

ESPN is a business, for profit. Business in and of itself, let alone in this case a single business like ESPN, is not a community, and anyways, he was in the NFL, not ESPN.

Since you're so sure of ESPN and their duties and rights, I'll await ESPN doing their in-depth coverage of sports drug use, steroids, gamboling, taxpayer subsidies for stadiums for hack politicians, wealthy sports owners and their syndicates, and the players and their lovely players union. But I'm not holding my breath on ESPN, or any other major to more accurately portray their brand quality in other than Pollyanna(ish) light.

Lastly, if anyone at ESPN wants to truly honor Ranger Tillman, they can walk down to the nearest recruiting station. I bet not a single one will, unlike his brother. These people, whom you called his "brothers" have, hence, abandonded him and what he belived in. Hence my less than warm feeling for their personal/corporate expression.
