[history]
A woman grabbed her son's Louisville Slugger baseball bat and fatally beat a naked intruder who was attacking her 56-year-old sister, St. Louis homicide detectives said Sunday.
"He tackled me around the knees, and I was screaming," said Gwen Herndon, in recalling the encounter with the man in her living room. She said her attacker was wearing only socks and had forced his way into her home. "I asked him, 'Who are you and what do you want?' "The only thing he said was, 'I'm dead. I'm dead.'"

I'm surprised she wasn't arrested for murder. But it wasn't with a gun... :)

She's gonna be in real trouble here, eliminating a potential Democratic voter in an election year.

your post reminded me of a joke:
Debate the stop sign
A cop stops a man for running a stop sign and the subject gives the cop a lot of grief, claiming that he did stop.
After several minutes, the cop explained to the gentleman that he didn't stop, he just slowed down a little.
The gentleman said "Ehh, stop or slow down, what's the difference?".
The cop yanked the guy out of the car and started beating him with a nightstick, giving him a thorough wood shampoo for about a minute and then said, "Now, would you like me to stop or just slow down?"

In the UK she'd be in the slammer right now. California too.

Wonderful bats, those Louisville Sluggers. I do hope it wasn't damaged in dispatching the perp.
Aluminum bats ought to be banned. The tinny ping just doesn't have the same sound to a real baseball fan as the mellow thud produced by the Louisville Slugger.
