A woman grabbed her son's Louisville Slugger baseball bat and fatally beat a naked intruder who was attacking her 56-year-old sister, St. Louis homicide detectives said Sunday.
"He tackled me around the knees, and I was screaming," said Gwen Herndon, in recalling the encounter with the man in her living room. She said her attacker was wearing only socks and had forced his way into her home. "I asked him, 'Who are you and what do you want?' "The only thing he said was, 'I'm dead. I'm dead.'"

Detectives said Turner had a long police record that included arrests on suspicion of burglary, assault, gun charges, forgery and trespassing, and had a conviction for robbery. Sounds like a model citizen to me. So she sees him break into a neighbor's apartment at 1:30 AM, stark nekkid and shouting incoherently, and right away she gets suspicious that he's up to no good. We do live in a cynical age...

We're peaceful people, calm people," Herndon said after she spent much of Sunday cleaning up Turner's bloodThis poor woman. She has to go thru something horrible like this and then clean up the blood afterward. Sad.

There was no timeline given, but I suspect he had crapped his pants, had broken limbs and was bleeding from several orifices when things calmed down enough for her to ask the question.
