Spain has been fighting terrorism for 30 years and never cave in. Take another look -- they just *did* cave in.

Volunteers

Bush should announce closure of our bases in Spain within 6 months. Absolutely. Spain's appeasement of terrorists makes their country too vulnerable to attacks. We shouldn't have our brave troops in such an atmosphere.

But he made this promise a thousand times, and now it is time to comply. Zapatero has options. There are ALWAYS options. He doesn't HAVE to comply with the demands of terrorists. He can choose otherwise. Of course he won't, but that doesn't say that he can't.
Al-Qaeda has asked Spain to withdraw the troops from Afghanistan and nobody in Spain has paid the slightest attention
Possibly an up-and-coming "demand" that AQ will make of Zapatero. "Now, out of Afghanistan or we attack Spain again."
Feh.

Spain Orders their Troops out of Iraq as soon as possible. Shame...shame on Spain. El Cid is rolling in his grave.

ABC is reporting "Spanish Leader Pulls Troops From Spain"... lol They just now fixed it -- but my screenshot lives on.

Judges 7:7 - And the LORD said to Gideon, "With the three hundred men that lapped I will deliver you, and give the Mid'ianites into your hand; and let all the others go every man to his home." The translation in the original Hebrew states that "the other" went by to their tents and stayed on their faces praying for the victory of the 300. There were many more prayer warriors than actual warriors because the battle is won in the spiritual realm for the victory in the physical realm.

I don't blame the Spanish troops. I blame their new leadership and those in their country who find it easier to bow down to terrorists. I am sure these Spanish troops are far from whimps.
To: Dog
I don't agree with them, but it seems to be what the Spanish people want.

Terrorist attack just prior to election, made the Spanish voters COWER to the Terrorists. Aznar had a MAJOR lead going into the elections, but the Socialist WON ! Spains message to the Terrorists:
Terrorism WORKS in Spain !
Terrorists WELCOMED in Spain !
The folks/supporters that killed the Americans and mutilated their bodies posted THIS on the Internet:

My Memo to Spain: Expect MORE Terrorism in Spain. Cowering doesn't work, it only EMBOLDENS them !!

Actually, it was probably more due to the fact that the majority party blamed the attacks on the Basques, even when they had no real evidence of their involvement, and it blew up in their faces. It would be like if Bush blamed 9/11 on some unpopular minority here in America.
Also, here's a question for pondering: if Spain follows the will of its people and pulls out the troops, is that a victory for terrorism or for democracy?

What fools the Spanish were to not re-elect that fine and honorable man. Aznar wasn't running for re-election unfortunately.

> The appeasement is complete now..
Not quite. This is just the first step.
Step 2: Al Q demands the release of all the terrorists awaiting trial.
Step 3: Al Q demands the release of all muslims in Spanish jails.

Nothing really of importance was achieved by spain. Not true. The Spanish invented the Spanish olive, Spanish Rice, the Paella pan, Tacos (or was that Mexico), and that cool Zorro mask. I'm sure that there are other contributions but none of this caliber.

It would be like if Bush blamed 9/11 on some unpopular minority here in America. Or like Clinton blaming OKC bombing on Rush Limbaugh-driven radical right-wingers.
