I feel bad for the Spanish Soldiers. I have heard reports that they are not thrilled about the election one bit. My son in Germany reminded me that the German troops on base in Weisbaden consistently go against orders and salute every Iraqi Freedom Veteran that they meet.

I agree with all the grief everyone is giving France, Spain, Germany, etc. They deserve it. But what REALLY bothers me is that we, America, may topple over into that appeasement column ourselves if John Kerry wins in November. The left seems to comprise roughly half the population of every Western country, including ours. Damn them. How did it come to this?

Where now the horse and the rider?
Where is the horn that was blowing? . . .
They have passed like rain on the mountain,
like a wind in the meadow.
The days have gone down in the West
behind the hills into shadow. --LoTR

[The] soldiers of Spain are not cowards...

You are certainly correct, and I think that you make an important distinction.

After Vietnam, the socialist Left (including a man who now wants to be POTS) did everything they could to vilify good soldiers who did their jobs honorably. Let's not make that same, inexcusable mistake with the brave soldiers of Spain.

Guys, thanks for the help you've given us. Bravo.

Americans are not a bit like the euroweenies. We stand tall, we fight, we don't run away!

When the world depends on us......we're there!

Do you think there are any countries on the face of the earth that count on the UN to protect them, save them, or stand up for them in times of trouble?

I can't recall the precise number but let say 40% of Polish citizens is against withdrawal. While 45 or 50% of Americans want to vote for Kerry...That 10% difference is not huge. Remember that we are a little hm angry to be polite, with Bush
because of visas, lack of financial support (in the same time
when Turkey or Pakistan received a couple of bilind $ we were
given a standard package of a couple of milion just as Czech Rep.) etc. So don't be surprised. PS. We are not in Iraq to earn some money it's a matter of respect to one of the most faithful ally.

The glory that was Spain? Are you referring to the Spanish Inquisition as one of those glories? Inquiring minds want to know.

"Americans are not a bit like the euroweenies. We stand tall, we fight, we don't run away."

Oh really....let me remind you how our fearless leader Clinton decided to pull our troops out of Somalia after we lost eighteen soldiers. Are you going to call those soldiers who were pulled out of Somalia cowards? Absolutely not.....the American soldiers were not happy with Clinton's decision, as I'm sure the Spanish soldiers are not happy with their new leaders decision.

"When the world depends on us....we're there!"

For the most part, yes we are. But again....we let down a whole bunch of people in Rawanda....due to Clinton's refusal to get involve and help.

"Do you think there are any countries on the face of the earth that count on the UN to protect them, save them, or stand up for them in times of trouble?"

Well if there are....they are fools. The UN serves no useful purpose what so ever and I wish Bush would get us out of the UN and the UN out of the US.

GWB should gather the leaders of the coalition, and make some very harsh statements about Spain. Saying that the terrorists won. Spain is an example of how terrorists succeed and that America will never bend to the will of terrorists.

I respectfully disagree. This is the scenario I see:

Spain pulls out, Al Quaeda leaves Spain alone, and any other country that will bend to it.

When election time nears, Al Quaeda will, or will attempt to strike the US, prompting the ignorant masses to blame Bush for putting us in this war and incurring Al Quaeda and the Muslim world's wrath.

No, GWB needs to stand up before the world and thank the Spanish soldiers for their courage and noble contribution to the war on terror. He should say their courage and committment were very much appreciated and their work will be gratefully remembered by both the American people and the Iraqi people.
