The DC Chapter of Free Republic set up a Viet-Cong Vets for Kerry bake sale in front of Democrat Presidential candidate John Kerry's national headquarters in Washington DC this afternoon. The Kerry campaign responded by calling the D.C. police to shut down the bake sale.
When the D.C. police arrived they ordered the DC Chapter to shut down the protest in 15 minutes or they would ticket them for occupying a public space without a permit. At that point the police would then disperse them themselves.
Due to the short notice, and the fact that it would be a small group, the DC Chapter did not apply for a permit.
Kristinn is scheduled to appear on Fox News this afternoon for an in-studio interview. The interview should air sometime between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm today. As more details become available, they will posted here.
Kudos to those that attended. The honor roll is Kristinn, Angelwood, TGSLTakoma, TBP, Trueblackman, and Staytrue.

PING!!!!
Have ya seen the new act that is gonna sing at the Dem convention?
Democratic White House challenger John Kerry (news - web sites) (C) said President George Bush's 'stubborn' Iraq (news - web sites) policy was costing the US lives and money during a town hall meeting in New York April 14, 2004, where he spoke with Sen. Hillary Clinton (news - web sites) (R) and Rep. Charles Rangel (news, bio, voting record) (L). The day after Bush defended his policy in a prime-time news conference and vowed to stay the course, Kerry promised 'a better way' in Iraq by creating a partnership with the United Nations (news - web sites). A few more minutes...
That was just another vicious rumor by the VWRC.
Another brilliant idea from the crack Kerry campaign staff.
Today we were in a spot under the jurisdiction of the District of Columbia's Metropolitan Police Department. They generally give wide latitude to First Amendment demonstrations.
In this case, they were getting pressure from the Kerry campaign (through the building security guards) to shut us down and had to do something.
The charges they could consider were: Demonstrating without a permit. But we were under the 25 person minimum for that to be enforceable.
Another was 'incommoding.' That means blocking a sidewalk. That didn't work because it was a very wide sidewalk, foot traffic was light and we were near the curb by newspaper boxes.
We weren't selling anything so 'vending without a license' and food safety violations weren't applicable.
So, after consulting via radio with their watch commander, they settled on "occupying public space without a permit," which involves a $50 ticket and the shutting down of the tables.
However, they declined to give us the ticket. Instead, they ordered us to shut it down in fifteen minutes. They said they'd come back if they got another call about us.
We lingered for 45 minutes, just to make the point we wouldn't be run off by the Kerry campaign. Because they called the cops, we ended up staying an hour longer than planned. We were scheduled to wrap it up at 2 p.m. and stayed until 3 p.m.
This is the cream of the crop for the dems? ouch.. for them.
It's gonna be real interesting to see if the dems toss a local boy out at the Boston convention for a NewYorkansan senator instead.

Kerry's "quick fire" response team is "not quite ready for prime time," IMHO. :o)X...X...X
Republicans are using flip-flop sandals to heckle John Kerry at campaign stops this summer by slapping the rubber thong-shoes together over their heads, symbolizing Kerry "flip-flops."
But Kerry's quick-fire response team fired back, and Kerry said he is sending his people to George Bush rallies to "bang their unemployment checks together."

You bet. Way to go !And if the FOX News screen shots are posted here, I want to see that.
And when pics are posted, can someone ping me ? Thanks ! ;^)
Yeah, I really got a kick out of the news that Rantissi was sent to his 72 Virginians. I am wondering who will move UP in Hamas ranks now to take his place ? We need to make up some 'Dead Man Walking' signs and BIG RED BULLSEYES for him to wear on his back !
Yassin, Rantissi .... NEXT ???
Ah ! A Kumbaya-fest, eh ??
