Perhaps you, like so many across the planet, are more than a bit baffled by the runaway success of "The Passion of the Christ."
Perhaps you, furthermore, are more than slightly disturbed that millions have flocked to this bizarre ultraviolent blood-drenched revisionist flick and that so many actually believe its story to be absolutely true, and that it just surpassed "The Return of the King" in total box office and is the No. 8 most successful film of all time and it was No. 1 again across BushCo's flyover states during Easter weekend and has sold 650,000 books and 125,000 creepy pewter nail necklaces and you find it all just incredibly warped and disheartening and what the hell is the world coming to.
You are not alone.

I am a Protestant Christian. I will not be seeing this or any other passion play. That is certainly your right, but based upon the reasons you give, I think that you are very confused. You are allowing the liberal elite who didn't want people to see this film because open religious dialogue makes them uncomfortable influence your decision.
I saw the film three times. No true Christian would find it the slightest bit antisemetic. Caveziel is a devout Catholic, he does not have a Jesus complex. Gibson loves his father even though he is a crazy old man. What is so wrong with any of this?

Honest open talk about Christianity makes liberals nervous, because it threatens their power base. They believe that they are the only ones who can truely help the needy and the downtrodden. So they had a vested interest in keeping people away from this film. So they made up lies to get people to avoid it. First it was anti-semitism. Then, when not one single act was carried out against Jews, they switched to focusing on the violence. I know a lot of Christians who have avoided this film because they are afraid that it is too violent. It is, in fact, less violent than a lot of films that I can name. And if you read the Gospel, you know that none of this violence is gratuitous.

Perhaps you, like so many across the planet, are more than a bit baffled by the runaway success of "The Passion of the Christ."If so, you probably shouldn't have seen it. You should have stayed at the commune and watched "Fisting Firemen V" with the guys you picked up at the leather bar.
Perhaps you, furthermore, are more than slightly disturbed that millions have flocked to this bizarre ultraviolent blood-drenched revisionist flick
... when you could have been watching such quality fare as "Dawn of the Dead" and "Kill Bill" instead. Not to mention "Fisting Firemen V."
and that so many actually believe its story to be absolutely true,
They must be totally ignorant of the True Religion: Wicca.
and that it just surpassed "The Return of the King" in total box office and is the No. 8 most successful film of all time
Yeah, bewildering, isn't it?
and it was No. 1 again across BushCo's flyover states during Easter weekend
And around the rest of the uncivilized world, like Europe. You know, all those places that aren't home to sophisticates like us.
and you find it all just incredibly warped and disheartening
... not like the sight of men kissing men or men dressed up like women kissing men, or men wearing leather chaps with the butt out or bull dyke lesbos on Harley's or queers with nose rings and pierced tongues. You know, normal stuff like that.
and what the hell is the world coming to.
Yeah, we've all wondered that. But probably for different reasons ...

There is one good thing about excerpting. Less of Ms. Morford's hysterics fill the screen.

From the deranged article:
"Perhaps you, furthermore, are more than slightly disturbed that millions have flocked to this bizarre ultraviolent blood-drenched revisionist flick and that so many actually believe its story to be absolutely true..." Someone is "disturbed" that "so many believe its story to be asolutely true"???
Someone is disturbed that we believe Redemption, divine mercy, forgiveness, faith, hope, and charity, self-sacrificial love and eternal happiness in Heaven are "absolutely true." Why...on earth would they be "disturbed"?

I guess I'm a proud resident of BushCo's flyover country... Every state (excexpt one, NM) I've ever been in went to Bush in 2000.

I do also disagree with the liberal left and their reasons for disagreeing with the "Passion." Maybe they'll all burn in hell. I don't believe that Mel is anti-Jewish, although, IMO, he shouldn't let Reform/liberal Jews bait him.
And I'm not bashing charismatics, although there is some disagreement on deviating from scripture, the 2nd Commandment, and so forth. It just seems that there is a lack of Puritan commentary on the film. ...and maybe a lack of any sizable number of Puritans, come to think of it (little humor there).
Many forget, BTW, that Jewish leaders of Jesus' time were Romans.

In fact, they weren't Roman citizens, at least most of them.
But, I suppose you were just trying to make some kind of snide anti-Catholic remark...
