Sorry for the vanity, but this is information I thought Freepers would like to hear about.
Apparently due to unresolved contractual disputes, the Los Angeles and Chicago affiliates of leftist Air America Radio have pulled the programming from their airwaves and returned to local programming.
I'm hearing this second hand, so if anyone has verifiable information or clarifications, please post them.

I was going to go DUmpster diving myself for their breakdown. Thanks for saving me the effort. Between this and Rumsfield "hit" the FL Demos called for yesterday, it appears all that malice is making them melt down...

"I couldnt believe what I was hearing"
That's why I hope they stay on the air.
Let people hear just how hate filled they are.
Give they a chance to REALLY BOMB.

depressing to turn on WLIB and hear Franken hamming it up with his sideshow slut over a barmitzvah. I see the big fat idiot and his radio reject sidekick are making audition tapes on-air for their next gig; WXRK's morning show (replacing Howard Stern). Just pathetic.

I decided to turn it on now. It is so boring it is insane.
Franken is interviewing Walter Cronkite. About the only funny thing that happened was when Cronkite started laughing about something, Franken said, I see youre laughing so hard that youre turning red I hope this doesnt turn out to be your last interview.
Im sorry, but the image of Walter Cronkite keeling over and dropping dead during a Franken interview did give me chuckles.
Franken just asked him a question about Bush responding to political pressure. When Franken finished asking the question, Uncle Walters response was What was the question again?
Now Franken is interviewing Walter about how much of a Dead Head he is. Walter is a very very dear friend of Mickey Hart.
Cronkite keeps losing his train of thought mid-sentence. I feel like Im eaves dropping on two old cranks yapping on the bus about the weather.
They just opened the phone lines to take calls, but I don't think anybody was there.
My adventure in Air America land is now over. Seriously, the most boring five minutes of radio I ever listened to.

"What an uplifting tune huh? hahah"Well, it definitely ain't Barry Manilow.
My wife won't even listen to it when I play it. She says "That's disgusting" and leaves the room.

If Kronkheit did die, I'd have to move him from my personal 'Spitting Distance' list to my personal 'Grave Pissing' list.
That LIAR singlehandedly 'lost' the Tet Offensive. Confronted with such an allegation he would no doubt deny it, BUT wish he could take credit.

Drudge update:
After just two weeks on the air, Air America Radio, the fledgling liberal talk-radio network featuring Al Franken and Janeane Garofalo, appears to have encountered serious cash-flow problems.
The CHICAGO TRIBUNE is developing a story, insiders tell DRUDGE, on how the network was pulled off the air this morning in Chicago and Los Angeles, the network's second- and third-largest markets, because, the owner of both stations said, the network bounced a check and owes him more than $1 million! A charge the network strongly denies...
A Chicago source familiar with the situation said a Multicultural representative showed up at WNTD's offices Wednesday morning, kicked out Air America's lone staffer overseeing the network's feed to the station from New York, switched over to a Spanish-language feed, and changed the locks on the doors... Developing...
