What I can't stand about Susan Estrich is when she chortles, shakes her head, and rolls her eyes, all at the same time. It's all a screeching blur to me, I've never seen it broken down like that.

I'm guessing most of those with a hostile response didn't read beyond the first line or two, because it does seem a bit out of line with the point of the thread. But I do feel for your situation, and am sad that it has happened to you. There is probably not much that I can say right now that can make you feel better. Unfortunately, in a dynamic marketplace, there are winners and losers, and some people do get hurt unfairly. I could point out that in the larger scheme of things, the system and free trade DO work for the greater good, but that's probably of little or no comfort to those who are hurt in the short-term aspects of this.
I can only offer you prayer on your behalf and urge that you can find hope and the strength to continue to fight and seek out new opportunities. I wish there were easy answers.

His policy and an unethical one at that. A live thread discussing the president speaking is a great place to address his policy even if grabbed by random. His staff has my letter - sent it to his campaign the day I posted it. And the point that others lose their jobs is the point. Mine is gone - it ain't just about me. It's about all the other me's out there who have nowhere to go after they lose their jobs for being Americans.. After they lose their jobs for being Americans. Anything 14th ammendmentish sounding about that.
Like I said, I needed gut reaction from random sample of the party and you guys responded in spades. Tells every person out there being displaced from middle class incomes so that corporations can go overseas and employ slave labor to service this market just what you think of them. They're costing Indian IT workers at 36k a year, and giving them 12k to replace 80k a year specialized - highly specialized coders here. People who are tops in the field with lots of degrees and certs behind them. Same thing is happening to me. Lost my job because I'm an American. Shall not discriminate based on race, color, creed or national origin. They didn't just want to get rid of American labor, they wanted cheap slave labor.
Want an education - go watch this Feb panel on abuse of h1 and L1 visas for the same reason. Ignore democrat and republican and listen to the panel. Is this compassionate conservatism? Profit isnt a bad thing; but, drug pushing is a bad way to make a profit, trading in people is a bad way to make profit, And this ain't but a smidgeon removed from sweatshops and slavery. Not mere rhetoric - listen to the panel.

President Bush's "talk" with the nation tonight was stellar! Calm, kind, firm, forthright, turning the other cheek without capitulating. You will see. Those press agents just helped him enormously!! Totally hilarious -- they hate him so much and they only helped him.
Furthermore, the more they portray him as an underdog, the more they rally folks to his side. Let the polls be negative, it only helps. I'm surprised the democrats haven't learned that by now. Look at Arnold's campaign -- a tight race? Yeah, right.... Predicting the closeness causes people to be energized to vote.

"I saw the interview of the sister of the murdered pilot on Larry King tonight. VERY powerful. She was prepared and ready to defend her brother's honor as well as that of President Bush. The same goes for the other families on Larry King tonight.
I have to admit that I was stunned... I was expecting Larry King's agent at CNN to do their usual bookings of the professional 9/11 victims (you know, the outspoken four women that are constantly on the news as the "spokespeople" for all 9/11 families). Apparently someone at CNN didn't do their homework and instead we got to see normal, honest to goodness, families voice their support for the President and voice their utter disdain for the spin the libs/dems/socialists keep trying to put on the tragedy of 9/11 and the WOT in general.
My guess is that someone at CNN is going to get fired over this obvious error..."
OMG!! I guess that means I need to watch LK tonight. If what you say is true, then some producer is probably sweating bullets about now...

Embarrassing to whom? Embarrassing to me and some others who are staunch Bush supporters.
He is rarely (though sometimes) eloquent, but he is always sincere, and accurate, and he speaks the truth.
I said the same thing in my post.
His only hesitation was to name his biggest mistake since 9/11. It was a stupid question, and he couldn't come up with an answer because he wasn't going to make one up.
No one who admires honesty should be embarrassed by that.
I'm not embarrassed by his honesty.
I am embarrassed that a good and decent man with solid convictions and excellent judgment..who is RIGHT on the issues should appear so shaky and lacking in composure when answering a bunch of hollow phony liberal media jackals.
Condi Rice did a great job of standing tough in the face of the left's attempts to make her look bad last week. That's what I want to see from Bush.

I called the White House switchboard and told the operator to tell GWB to stay the course, don't get discouraged. There are millions out across mainstream America of all political persuasions who feel the same way yet haven't made that all important call.

You should know all about people who speak from a political agenda, Joe.
No mobs or angry crowds here, but your 'worship of Ali Baba' comparison is despicable.........even for you.
Don't you have any shame?

President Bush spoke perfectly from his heart. Held his cool. That's the way I saw it. He wasn't up there using polished phrases, and you can see his soul and character beaming from every pore, whether he's happy, mad, or glad, you see it. Bush is the epitome of the kind of character that exists out here in fly over space, honest, decent, down home. He doesn't just feel anyone's pain, he's giving the bereaved an outstretched hand, and kind words, a shoulder to cry on, and a hug that lasts a lifetime, just from his visible emotions.
You put into words exactly what I was feeling about Our President. I am so happy we have a man of integrity, character, strength, boldness and humility in the White House and it is no longer a house of perversion as it was for 8 years before George and Laura got there.

I believe that it was none other than Commissioner Kerrey who observed that clinton was "an incredibly good liar." Good or bad liar...I do not like to be lied to at any time, any place, or by anybody.
After seeing/hearing him every day on TV for 8 looooooong years, incredibly large numbers of people paid fabulous sums of money to hear him even MORE. Unbelievable.

My husband and I went through hard times. He was a director of engineering for a large coal company in Indiana. The coal fields closed due to the economy, and we had to either look for other work here or move. We chose to stay.
My husband did some consulting, and took a succession of jobs with quarries and asphalt companies. Eventually, work dried up.
My husband eneded up loading mail at an airport, and I went to work at a catalogue company taking orders. We almost lost our home.
But now, my husband has a good job with a company who does civil engineering. I started an antique business. We are on our way to getting back on track.
Rather than dwelling on how unfair things are, look for how you can overcome.

Savage can be extremely hyperbolic, "over the top", and just plain wrong a lot of the time. Sounds like tonight he hit the Tri-fecta.

And, on this count, Kerry, that sonorous, pompous, haughty bore, is no threat at all. At least Bush sounds like a real Amurican. Kerry has good eloqution (sp?) but we are not electing a toastmaster in chief, so no worries on this account. This I agree with. Which is why I think the debates will work in Bush's favor.
I think Kerry will look just awful on stage next to Bush.

Coming in late here. I don't think Bush should have done this in the first place. The 9/11 commission story is dead or was anyway, pretending that these allegations mean anything just pumps more life into the story. The situation was clearing up and the media was moving on to other things, why give more meat to the "it's a disaster" story at this point?
He did a pretty good job overall but I don't see how this can help.

the bust of Lincoln over the President's right shoulder is fascinating... I've been thinking recently of the 1864 election...in the middle of a difficult war, with divided opinion in the North...
I didn't notice the Lincoln bust -- awesome! And no mistake about it. I did hear the President make the case that we musn't change horses mid-stream. I'm with him on that.
When we look back upon an historical event, we see the end result as defining of earlier events. We must never forget that actors in the moment had no idea of the outcome. The best of them acted upon principle, and achieved it. So it is for President Bush.
Thanks for the ping!

We have several "performance" driven freepers here tonight. Gotta see a "good performance". Gotta have a "good show", be "entertained" by smoooooth oratory.,
