We've all done it. You've just gotten home, logged on to FR, and are scrolling down the "Latest Posts" page, deciding which thread will get your attention this evening, when THAT SCREENNAME jumps out at you in a "to" or "from" position. You are powerless to resist; if THAT GUY's there, it's gonna be a good thread...
All of us have our own "favorites" among the many colorful souls who congregate at this fine website. They could be someone you disagree totally with, agree completely with, or somewhere in between. They might be a fount of useful information, links, and facts. Our favorite might be devastating at the art of debate; demolishing opponents in truly unique style, or he might be just plain nuttier than squirrel dung, but fun nonetheless.
Perhaps your favorite FReeper has a way with words; an excellent writer. Maybe they are someone highly experienced in a particular field, with knowledge that many do not posess. Maybe they're dumber than a bag of hammers.
Point is, no matter what the reason, our "favorite FReepers"' handle attached to a thread makes it all the more interesting to us; it guarantees a wild ride or sublime pleasure in the reading and learning. It may also guarantee an increase in blood pressure and indigestion, but one thing's for sure...that thread HE's on is gonna get a hit or two, and it won't be boring.
I've got more than a few of my own, and I'm sure all of you do as well. WHO'S YOURS?????????????????

Thanks, Xenalyte. Means a lot that you would think of me. You're a pretty cool chick yourself. :-)

Jigs, did you see this one yet?

I knew I was going to leave off more than I remembered on my list, but both of you are deserving, BigB for his hilarious comments, and jigsaw for the work on taglinus.

Thanks, Owl! :)
Damn to the Seventh Circle of Hades all those that allowed Mystery Science Theater 3000 to be cancelled and all of the great lines from Crow, Mike, Joel, Gypsy, and Sir Thomas Sirveaux to be scattered to the four winds.
Tom, I just had to ping ya. ;)

i like your posts. I'll remember to do the cussing and shouting that you won't do in the future :) I think LC gives me more credit than I deserve. I have lost my temper on several occasions and wrote things that I later regretted. There are a few FReepers (who shall remain nameless) who are very good at pushing my buttons.

To: Cathryn Crawford; robertpaulsen; Lazamataz; MrLeRoy; Xenalyte; JerseyHighlander; Dane; Roscoe; ...
Cathryn Crawford - Great writer, great attitude, great gal. Though what is up with the Washington Dispatch not wanting their columns posted on FR?
robertpaulsen - One of the very few vocal proponents of the Drug War who puts up formidable arguments. His sense of humor is a bit wacky, much like mine.
Lazamataz - Speaking of humor, this guy is friggin hilarious.
MrLeroy - Total bull$hit that you got banned. We miss ya!
Xenalyte - The only FReeper to put me on their "favorite FReepers" list thusfar. A large-L Libertarian who has a great head on her shoulders. I hope she is able to bring some sanity to the LP on some of their more irrational platforms. She's hot too.
JerseyHighlander - A few years ago, JH and figured out that we had grown up as neighbors, albeit a few years apart. Since then, we don't run into each other all that much on FR, but when we do, I'm always impressed with the quality of his posts. He also has a great profile page.
Dane - One of those FReepers who I agree with probably less than 50% of the time, but always enjoy engaging anyway. Plus, he's a pretty nice dude if you run into him on non-political threads.
Roscoe - A drug warrior from the past who hardly ever posts anymore. This guy was a brutal debater, never losing his cool, and relentlessly posting statistics and citations without any emotion or extraneous comments to make his point. It was nice to finally be on his side in debates when we both ended up supporting McClintock in the recall election.
Trampled by Lambs - Haven't dealt with this guy all that much, but anyone who chooses their FReeper name based on Phish lyrics must be pretty damn cool.
Travis McGee - Great source of firearms/2nd Amendment information, and a hell of a talented author.
Cultural Jihad - I am convinced that this guy is playing a FR "character" and is intentionally egnigmatic and contrarian, but I could be wrong. Regardless, he always makes threads interesting, and will never have a malicious word for you if you disagree.
cuzitainttheirmoney - Does a great job with the Survivor ping list
NormsRevenge - Does a great job with the NASCAR ping list.
SheLion - Is a great voice for the smokers-rights crowd, and comes from one of my favorite towns in the country, Limestone, ME.
okcsubmariner - I'm still trying to figure out why this guy was banned. His research into the OKC bombing was fascinating, and FR is a lesser place without him.
AxelPaulsenJr and DangerMouse - It's been over six months since the Big Brother 4 thread I ran ended, but I remember these two adding to the discussion on there quite a bit. See ya July 6th, guys.

But I always thought that if I did, it'd be because of my witty, well thought out posts rather than the origins of my nick..
It is true that I'm pretty damn cool however...
Seriously, I am honored to be mentioned in anyone's favorite FReeper list :)

What's Mystery Science Theater 3000? I've never heard of it. I did not just read that...I did not just read that...I did NOT just read that...
4mc! How, as an avowed scifi geek, could you NOT know MST3K?? It's only the greatest show ever!! It used to run on Comedy central, then for the last few years on the Sci-Fi network. I'm sure you've seen it, but just didn't know what it was. it's that show where you see a really, REALLY bad movie playing in the background, while down at the bottom of the screen, you see some silhouettes doing riffs on the whole thing. Or, if you'd like more detail...
TURN DOWN YOUR LIGHTS (where applicable...)
See, in the not-too-distant future (next Sunday, A.D.)
There was a guy named Joel (Robinson-later replaced by Mike Nelson)
He wasn't too different from you or me.
He worked (as a janitor) at Gizmonics Institute (a top-secret research facility)
He was just another face in a red jumpsuit.
He did a good job cleaning up the place, but his bosses (Mad Scientists Dr. Clayton Forrester and Dr. Larry Earhardt--later replaced by TV's Frank, plucked from obscurity working at a local Arbys) didn't like him, so they shot him into space (aboard the Satellite of Love, or the SOL)
They sent him cheesy movies...the WORST they could find
Tra la la...
He had to sit and watch them all, and they monitored his mind.
Tra la la...
Now keep in mind...Joel couldn't control where the movies began or ended
Because he used those special parts to make his robot friends...
(Robot roll call...)
CAMBOT Records all the goings-on on the SOL
GYPSY Controls the ship's higher functions
TOM SERVO
CROOOOW
Joel (or Mike), Tom, and Crow are the ones who actually watch the movie and crack the jokes you hear over the film dialogue
If you're wondering how he eats and breathes, and other science facts
Tra la la...
Repeat to yourself, "It's just a show." You should really just relax.
That's MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000. :) For more info, the official MST3K site: http://www.mst3kinfo.com/

What happened to the show this season? Did SCIFI cancel it - they have been running the same 20 episodes for the last 2 years anyway. Sat mornings will never be the same. I have been contemplating a DVD compilation just to stay sane. Or I could just dopple like Fingal.
Thanks for the lyrics, TBB.
4MC, proceed to the nearest video store and get some MST3k.
To: 4mycountry
Oh, my.... On the bright side, lucky you! You still have all the episodes to watch for the first time!!!
BigB might be able to better direct you on how to track some of these treasures in hilarity down, but for my money, the funniest show on T.V. EVER (Non-Animated Division).

Actually, no new eps were created after 2001 (or 2002). The agreement that allowed Sci-Fi to show reruns expired this January. See, in order to show the eps, a network also has to have the rights to the movies appear -in- the show. And the cost of acquiring so many of them is prohibitive. That's why only a few shows were rerun and re-rerun for about the past year and a half. The rights to many of the movies shown in the first season on Sci-Fi expired. The crew of best Brains are adamant that MST3K is gone for good, only to exist in our memories and tape collections. :( Info on the cancellation can be found here:
