WASHINGTON -- Iraq has become "George Bush's Vietnam," Sen. Edward M. Kennedy said Monday, calling the president deceitful and for the first time comparing him to former President Nixon, who resigned in disgrace.
Saying that truth has become the biggest casualty of the Bush administration, Kennedy said Bush misled the public about the war, the economy, health care and education, eroding the nation's reputation at home and abroad.

I think this explains why Kerry chose to make his Vietnam war experience a part of the campaign. It is strategic, and the play is multi-card.
First, Kerry brings up Vietnam with the implication that he is a hero, GW is not, and that he opposed that terrible war...relying on people's failing memories as to what went wrong in Vietnam... mainly the Democrats running it from Washington... to suggest that the protesters were the good guys and those who supported the troops, and the troops themselves were the bad guys.
Here we are now, with Fat Teddy making this "Bush's War" when WE THE PEOPLE supported it, and raising the spectre of Vietnam despite the fact that this is NOTHING like Vietnam... although the dems are doing their best to make it one... undermining the troops, politicizing the war, undermining our leaders.
WE THE PEOPLE need to convey our support for the troops. What they are doing is the right thing. I am really bummed that our troops are coming home in civilian clothes, dispersed into the crowds with no formal recognition for what they have done. I have a friend whose son just got back. He got NOTHING in the way of recognition for his valor from anyone but his family. No parade.
I say, "Hug a soldier if ya see one". Tell them thanks.
Don't let the dems bring down this great victory of freedom for political gain.
Damn the dems who are driving this effort. Damn them!

In the Dems case it's too bad that the Sedition Act of 1918, I think that's the right year can't be used. If it could there would be an awful lot of surprised folks on the left.
In Ted's case in particular I think he's suffering from "Brain Freeze" from too much Ben&Jerry's.

"Saying whatever it takes to prevail has become standard operating procedure in the Bush White House," said Kennedy. "In this administration, truth is the first casualty of policy." LOL!!! Is this guy for real?! Where was this RAT when Clinton lied every time his mouth moved?? Senator, you are so wrong!

Big Head Ted wishes it were. His natural instinct is to run away. Coward left his secretary to die in 4 feet of water.

You got to have a pair to get a war named after you.
For someone who ran off and let a woman drown, it'll never happen.

Doesn't this jerk realize there's a war on? Doesn't he know we're fighting over there right now, right at this moment? It's hard to believe that even Kerry would make a statement as stupid as this.
The man is costing US lives by encouraging the enemy. In my book, that's treason.

For Kennedy it's make-or-break time. His fortunes are tied to Kerry. If Bush is re-elected, Kennedy will likely retire from public life and live out his days bitter that he never got his shot at the Oval Office. If Kerry is elected, Kennedy will stay on and possibly even enjoy life back in the majority.

Kennedy is a fat piece of lying excrement. I'd say more but I value my FR membership.

If Kerry is elected, Kennedy will stay on and possibly even enjoy life back in the majority. His liver will give out before he can realize whatever dreams he has stored in what I loosely call his brain.

Ok Teddy, we have seen your weekly photo opp and nonessential statement, now go crawl back into your bottle of rum.

It's too bad that we don't have real journalists. If we did, at least one may ask Kerry what he thinks of Mary Jo Kopechne.
