I wish I had waited
L.A. youth ^ | jan. 2004 | anonymous

I am a 15-year-old girl who’s had sex since the age of 13. There are two main reasons I got into having sex at such an early age. One, I didn’t know much about sex so I wanted to see what it was like. I saw it everywhere from Victoria’s Secret shops to television shows.

Two, I was influenced into having sex because "everybody" in high school was doing it. I was in eighth grade and I hung around people who were older than me. The guys were not virgins. They would say things like, "It is not a big deal." So I thought that if I was not a virgin it would not matter that much because it had lost its specialness.

My parents and teachers were too embarrassed to sit me in a chair and talk to me about sex. My parents thought that I would not become sexually active because my brothers and sisters had not become involved with sex. In my middle school I did not have any sex education classes. At that time I was wondering stuff like, how does it feel to have sex? Do I get pregnant the first time? What is a condom? I once saw a condom on glasses worn by Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes and I wondered what it was.

The first time I had sex, I had to depend on what the guy knew. I was 13 and the guy was my sex education class. He was 16 years old and not my boyfriend. It was his idea to have sex and I was really adventurous at the time. I wanted to know more and it just happened. It was his idea to use a condom because I didn’t know much about birth control. After I had sex, I realized it was too late to take back the biggest mistake of my life. I went home and kept telling myself, "I’m not a virgin, I’m not a virgin." I felt really bad about it because growing up I was taught that you shouldn’t lose your virginity until you’re married.

Months later, when my parents found out that I was having sex, they lost their trust in me and sent me to a group home. But sex is addictive. I became addicted to the feeling of being loved because I wasn’t getting enough love from my family. I began to have sex with people that I really did not want to have sex with. Once I started having sex it was not easy to stop.

I personally believe that middle school is one of the most important places to be given sex education because when you get into high school you will see things about sex everywhere. Nowadays people do not wait to be seniors at the prom to have sex. They just have sex when they think they are ready, whether or not they are.

I wanted to save my virginity for someone special, not just some guy. I think that if I had known more about sex and taken sex-ed classes in middle school, I would have realized that sex is not a game. After the sex-ed classes I took in ninth grade, I learned that there is much more to sex than the "fun" of it. There are sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy, and with those risks comes a lot of responsibility.

In the future, I want to wait to have sex until I meet someone who appreciates me. Sex can bring negative things when you are not ready for it.

No, I just looked at the letter and it didn't ring true for me, for the reasons I stated.

And I don't hold that the rest of the NT is "subsumed to" the Gospels, whatever you mean by that. As St. Paul said, the main point is "Jesus Christ, and Him crucified." That's all I meant.

You should examine the web site and some of the other teen letters.

"Right. A 15-year-old wrote this.

I was thinking the same thing. My B.A. is in English and Philosophy, and there is NO way a 15 year old KID wrote this piece.

So I thought that if I was not a virgin it would not matter that much because it had lost its specialness.

I felt really bad about it because growing up I was taught that you shouldn’t lose your virginity until you’re married.

So....which way is it? Was "she" taught that she should remain a virgin until married or did no one teach her anything except the older guys? This is a pretty whopping inconsistency.

Then, there's the blaming. She kept having sex because her parents didn't show her love. She had sex because she didn't have sex education early enough. It couldn't possibly be her fault....right?

Whether this was written by a teen or not, it certainly indicative of the trouble found in our society.

For sex addicts, their "needs/addiction" can drive them to masturbation on the order of five to eight times an HOUR.

Good Lord. How do they get any work done?

"What is L.A. Youth? L.A. Youth newspaper is a county-wide, teen-written publication with a readership of 400,000 youth and adults. It is published six times a year.

So? Jayson Blair was rewarded by the most prestigious print publication in the world, by liberal standards. You can believe whatever you like.

I long ago ceased to worry about being "identifed" by lurking NSA agents here on FR. I'll bet my file is a foot thick based on twenty five years of 2nd Amendment and other conservative activism. Not to mention editorials and other paid articles published.

You should read a book self published by Freeper Travis McGee called: "Enemies Foreign and Domestic." It's an eye opening novel of which the first TWENTY (that's right 20) chapters are published at the website for you to read. I'd recommend that you take a look at it, I'm sure Travis will post a link. Travis' real name is on the book. Gee! He's been exposed! What do you think?

~TINFOIL HAT starting to GLOW~

Here's a hint: Anybody who's really dangerous, who would care, already knows who he is, just like "they" know the rest of us.

~Glow fading from TINFOIL HAT~

I don't care about anybody else.

That's the point. If their addiction get's out of ummmmmm (forgive me) HAND, they wind up sacrificing their careers, their marriages, and sometimes they wind up in jail.

That's my book, that's my name. There's plenty of bio data on the website too, along with the first 20 chapters of the novel.

Come on, don't sweat it. Every keystroke you've ever made is stored somewhere, for future reference, all traceable back to you in good time.

If you have been vetted by the competent authorities you have no qualms about the good guys having your background information. I see no reason to proffer it to organizations like DU and worse though and if you don't think they are not trolling for it you are sadly mistaken.

What ever happened to just falling asleep? I guess that I'm not a teenage boy anymore.

Lighten up guys!

I do not fear my friends in the NSA at all. I see no reason to go public on a site like FR. Teens like to go public on the Internet but are wisely cautioned by their parents, and sometimes their peers, not to make that mistake. Some people think they have nothing to lose. I see no reason to go public on FR. I believe there were some who expressed regrets about using email addresses on FR with their actual names in them. Giving out your actual name, unit, place of business, city, etc. seems unwise to me.

"Sigh!"

"Sorry, Young Lady," You Didn't get "Knocked Up," because you were UnAttractive to the "Frat Boys."

In the "Halcion Days" of the '50's, the "Standards of the "Fraternities" AUTOMATICALLY REJECTED a "Pregnancy!"

There were NO "Pregnant "Pleges' Girlfriends" ALLOWED in ANY "Fraternity!!"

In Short, "Pregnancy" is/was ANATHEMA in ANY FORM of Human Discourse.

All internet information is stored and retrievable, by your worst enemies. I'm comforted by the fact that I am far better armed and trained than the DUmmies.

Yes, it is sensible not to seed the Internet with personal information in open forums.

She's 13 and having sex. And there was no mention of drugs or alcohol. Yeah, right.

She was put into a group home for having sex. But no mention of drugs or alcohol. Yeah, right.

I know parents who've locked up their kids for bad behavior to straighten them out. They ALL mention sex, and drugs, and alcohol.

Sex is no big deal to these kids because they witness free sex without reperucssions every day. They dont have anyone around them telling them its wrong. Their parents are so wrapped up in their own silly lives, they dont care about their kids.

I did not know that about fraternities and sororities during the 1950s actually. One would not know that now. When I went to school, it was shocking. I had to sleep outside in the door lounge because *entertainment* was in session LOL. Too much drinking too. That whole scene is bizarre.

I vote for a religious family with a rebellious teen.

Any particular religion you have in mind?

If I had to pick I would guess Catholic but it could be any religious family that cares about their teen daughter.
