EXTREMELY Damaging Kerry Quote From 9/11 Unearthed!!! (Must read and pass on)
Kerry Quotes ^ | 3-31-04

This has not appeared in the news yet (even on conservative sites). If we could get the tape of this, it would *destroy* Kerry.

On 9/11, on Larry King Live, Kerry was asked the following question, and had the following response:

KING: Senator Kerry did your -- did you committee on international opertions and terrorism ever actually fear something like this?

SEN. JOHN KERRY: Absolutely. Absolutely. But let me join John [McCain] and I know all my colleagues in just expressing -- I think all of us here in Washington are feeling in very personal ways the loss of what's happened here. I know that I had one friend I know of already on that plane from Boston, and I dread the learning of perhaps others. But for thousands of families tonight, there is just a huge loss, and I think in every American there's a sense -- there's a fury, an intense, burning fury about this and a determination to do what is right about it.

We have always known this could happen. We've warned about it. We've talked about it. I regret to say, as -- I served on the Intelligence Committee up until last year. I can remember after the bombings of the embassies, after TWA 800, we went through this flurry of activity, talking about it, but not really doing hard work of responding.

That's just the PUBLIC stonewalling.

What was happening inside the White House, inside the intelligence agencies, as disgruntled Clinton appointees were able to stay on past the inauguration, wreaking considerably more chaos on the new administration than the vandals who left were able to do?

And it very well could have been a fuel-tank related explosion. He is just saying that the intel committee and investigators looked into terrorism as a possible cause.

So, that would be like, say, if Bush asked his team to look into Iraq as the cause of 9/11 even though it may have been Al Qaeda in Afghanistan?

I was going to ping you and ask if you saw the C-Span video on Sunday of John Kerry on the old Dick Cavitt show (June 1971). It was full of great sound bites that could be used for anti-Kerry ads. Kerry said things like the administration(Ford) says that there would be mass murders if we pull out of Vietnam, but that just isn't so. There might be a few thousand political assassinations, but that's all. (not exact words but similar)He was explaining how the communist regime was good for Vietnam and what the people wanted and saying that the US shouldn't assume that democracy was good.

Ditto that.

I think the even bigger news is Kerry calling for unilateral action to protect ourselves.

Had this been left to people the likes of Kerry, they would still be talking about it.

Had this been left to people the likes of Kerry, they would be talking about something else.

Odds are that hundreds of Americans taped everything that day. If CNN 'can't find it', I'm sure some patriotic American will.

Insight often has reported on Clinton-era officials and Republican defectors who have tied Bush's national-security strategy in knots since the beginning of his presidency [see "Blinded Vigilance," Oct. 15, 2001; "Clinton Undead Haunting Pentagon," June 17, 2002; and "Democrats Subvert War Intelligence," Jan. 6-19]. Indeed, this magazine reported on Sept. 7, 2001, just four days before the terrorist attacks, that Clinton holdovers continued to run the U.S. intelligence community [see "Ground Down CIA Still in the Pit" at Insight online] without needed reforms to deal with post-Cold War threats such as international terrorism [see sidebar, p. 19]. Days after the carnage, even the president's most bellicose critics in Congress, including Sens. John Kerry (D-Mass.) and Carl Levin (D-Mich.), were on CNN saying as publicly as they could that they were reconsidering their long-held positions that limited the fight against the terrorist enemy and piously alluding to the need to repeal a post-Watergate executive order banning assassinations abroad.

At that point the president's own defense and security team was still taking shape. His top NSC special assistant for intelligence programs, Mary K. Sturtevant, had been on the job only eight weeks before the 9/11 attacks. For months, Sen. Levin personally had held up the confirmation hearings of Bush's appointees who were to design the U.S. antiterrorism strategy - Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Douglas J. Feith, Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Programs J.D. Crouch and Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs Peter W. Rodman - refusing for apparently partisan purposes to allow them to take office until late July 2001. While Levin was holding up their appointments, the incoming Pentagon policy team had no legal or political authority to do their vital jobs - a fact that helps explain why it took eight months for the Bush administration to draw up a strategic operational plan to destroy al-Qaeda.

Making matters worse for the Pentagon leadership after 9/11 were the machinations of a network of senior Clinton political appointees who still held sensitive posts, including Peter F. Verga, Clinton's deputy undersecretary of defense for policy integration, which was a major intelligence post. Senior administration sources tell Insight that Verga made himself useful to the Rumsfeld team but beavered to curry favor at the top, in part by "sniping and playing bureaucratic games" to make life difficult for the incoming defense policy team. Even today the divisive Verga holds a senior homeland-security post at the Defense Department.

Two points:

The TWA quote is important, but not damning. Kerry can just say he misspoke....and it would be reasonable considering the stress of the day. Now I would not buy that, but enough people would because it would be conceivable.

The REALLY IMPORTANT THING HERE is that Kerry actually admits that the Congressional committee he has a member of did not really do anything to stop terrorism....he says they didn't really do any "hard work of responding."

A transcript has been posted, but it is from Nov. 11 with excerpts from Sept. 11 that do not include this quote. That led me to believe this was not true until I saw the Sept. 11 transcript, which you can find here:

http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0109/11/lkl.00.html

Here is a bit more from Kerry....some of his comments on responding harshly to states sponsoring terrorism also are interesting.

"We have always known this could happen. We've warned about it. We've talked about it. I regret to say, as -- I served on the Intelligence Committee up until last year. I can remember after the bombings of the embassies, after TWA 800, we went through this flurry of activity, talking about it, but not really doing hard work of responding.

We need to do that now and I'm confident that the size of this, the nature of this loss and the nature of this attack are going to motivate everybody to come together to do that. And I think that's imperative. And we also, I think, Larry -- I was heartened by the president's comments tonight. We need to make certain that those countries that sponsor terrorism, that support it, that harbor these fugitive are as much a part of the problem as those who engage in the terrorist acts themselves. And we need to make certain as a country we respond to that. Boldly and bravely -- not recklessly -- but boldly."

If the cause of the crash was covered up, a US government website wouldn't be the best source of information about the crash.
