Remember how during the Lewinsky case the Dems insisted that Kenneth Starr appear before Congress, and when he reluctantly agreed, they said it was unethical for him to testify? I wonder if they will try to pull a similar bait-and-switch with Rice, e.g., if she appears and wipes the floor with Clark and Ben Veniste, will they then say that she shouldn't have appeared, that she jeopardized national security and cost American lives, just to save her own ego? Or some such thing . . . never underestimate the ability of the Dems to turn things completely upside down, from one minute to the next.

Could be true, I suppose. He's never married right ? There's one [possible] clue, if so. One thing we do know, he's a liar.

I called and this guy is a jerk. He said he does not care if his cartoon is to the left, and racist or sexist. I think everyone that has an opportunity should call.

I wrote the editor via the letter to the editor form. Just had to express my opinion to the lib. Here is what I wrote:
Joe Heller's cartoon of Condi Rice is disgraceful, and only cements a "certified" liberal media bias. Your poor judgement to print the cartoon expresses how much you are in denial of that fact. Furthermore, your error reflects poorly on the staff at the Press-Gazette staff.
When will you people get a clue? After you close your doors? A growing number of Americans are tired of your tripe and have stated so by continuing to cancel subscriptions to such. Your competition, mainly conservative talk radio and FOX News, are products of your denial. Conservative News provides an alternative and is very successful in serving a significant and growing audience who now tune to the (real) truth.

Ann Coulter started ringing that bell last week on the Scarborough show and Juan Williams was on FOX today, defending Condeleeza. While Williams did not mention race, his demeanor, combined with the fact that he is a Black Democrat condemning the attacks on Rice, insinuated that the attacks were racially motivated.

A friend was living in Chattanooga, TN. There, his associates called him a "liberal." Without changing his views, but after moving to Madison, WI, his new neighbors called him a conservative, right-wing nut.

Good for Ann and Juan. We have got to make those phony b*stards pay. This will totally throw them off. Imus raised the issue with Evan Thomas the other day but Thomas shrugged it off even though even HE was hammering Clarke.

Juan Williams was clearly unhappy with the Democrat refusal to recognize accomplished Black people in the Bush administration. I think that we need to continue to raise this question.

What a disgusting cartoon. I wonder if this cartoonist has done as much in life as Condi has. Maybe he has achievement envy.

I think they've already tried to play the race card with Robert Novack's insinuations yesterday. Nobody took the bait. But why would you advocate stooping so low -- do you think it's right when the Democrats do it?

That is an obviously racist caricature of Dr. Rice. For one thing, the mouth being so much bigger than the face is a longtime caricature of black people, not to mention the drawing making it look like she has a gold-capped tooth; the only thing missing is having her eating watermelon! Disgusting.

Didn't Toyota get in trouble for a commercial with "tooth art"? I was trying to figure out the context of the messages on her teeth and that was all I could come up with.

Good memory on the "tooth art" issue. Here's what I found on toyota.com:
Toyota Is Committed to Diversity Rev. Jesse Jackson's Rainbow/PUSH Coalition has indicated that it may organize protests over concerns about a promotional postcard for the youth market distributed by Toyota.
The card featured an African American man with a large smile and a gold RAV4 emblem on his tooth. It was intended to communicate RAV4's styling to a youthful hip audience through tooth art, an edgy style similar to body jewelry and tattoos, but was not directed at any ethnic group.
Recognizing that the card might offend, Toyota pulled the card from the marketplace prior to hearing of Rev. Jackson's concerns. The company also apologized publicly for having offended anyone and is taking steps to ensure that future marketing materials are appropriate for all audiences.
Toyota is a good company that made a mistake in this instance and is determined to improve.
Do you think the Rev. Jackson will complain about this cartoon? ;)

"but if I were advising Bush, I would have his people get up and play the race card"
You won't get flamed! Because you make a valid point! I wish that sometimes GWB would fire back at these unscrupulous vermin that seem to be in control of the other party.

But why would you advocate stooping so low -- do you think it's right when the Democrats do it?No...I was not clear enough in what I posted. I am not advocating being serious about this--just throw it out there so they think twice about doing it again. It will also remind them that the African Americans that are pubbies did not get there through any affirmative action program but simply because they were the best. Period. It will pay a lot of dividends--certainly to make them squirm is one.
Cheers,
PB
