Just wanted to post pictures of my new Baby Girl!
My wife was found to be suffering from Preeclampsia and the baby didn't have much amniotic fluid (would up even less!). Early delivery (32 weeks)was an absolute must for both Mommy and Baby.
Baby and Mommy are doing great!
Anna Elizabeth was born approximately 1:30 PM via C-section and weighs 3 lbs 11 oz.
Praise the Lord for the strenght he have us all and most especially to Baby Anna. Anna will get to come home when she reaches 4.5 lbs and is eating properly.
The Dr. is already backing off on the oxygen, as she is breathing very well on her own.
And the proud daddy with Baby Anna!

Exactly. It starts out good and gets better and better. They are a blessing, despite bumps in the road. (Homeschooling helped a lot but didn't get rid of them entirely). But it's wonderful, to see them grow and change and become people of their very own.

Update 4/3/2004
Today's visit was a special blessing - we got to hold Anna! She has been weaned off of oxygen supplement and thus is breathing room air.
The only tubes still in are her gastric tube and her IV.
First feeding (Pedialyte) was at 6 PM today. Will gradually start breast milk (via gastric tube) tomorrow.
She was weighed for the first time since birth today - 3 lbs 4 oz. A normal loss that should rapidly be regained. The medical staff are very impressed with her progress.
Bilirubin levels are down to 8.6 and steadily declining - also good news.
Best of all - we got to hold her! Didn't last long, but sure was wonderful!
Thanks again to all those praying for Anna. The prayers are obviously working! Praise God!
More pictures:
Another day of progress, another day closer to homecoming!

Today's update -
Biliruben level down to 6.4 and falling rapidly (good news), Down to 1/2 liter on the air -should be weaned by the morning, she has gained 1 oz in the last 24 hours, and should be on breast milk (via tube) tomorrow.
I got to hold her for 30 minutes today. What a glorious and SHORT 30 minutes!
Any Freeper moms here have experience with electric breast pumps? We are currently renting one from the office at the hospital (Very $$$$) and are looking for a good machine. We are hoping to find one that's not going to cost us an arm-and-a-leg. Mommy needs a machine that can "double-pump" and will withstand pretty heavy use for the next several months - particularly when she heads back to work. We have been cautioned that most consumer pumps are not meant for multiple users (thus don't buy used). Words of wisdom are greatly appreciated.

Try the La Leche website Battman, they have "double pumpers" and a "working mom" kit available at reasonable prices. Also lots of good info and advise for new mom and dad. Medela breast pumps are about the best out there.

Thanks MontanaBeth - that was a very informative site.
Latest update on Anna (If anyone is growing tired of these, please let me know):
More good news on Anna today No more air tube, no more bililight, and now feeding every 3 hours on breast milk (via tube).
Even better, we were there tonight when they moved her from the 4th floor NICU to the 3rd floor NICU a step-up in progress. She now has a private room.
Diana got to hold her for an hour this afternoon.
Shes another big step closer to home!
