I have just had a conversation with a member of the Washington press corps who attends the briefings and very often gets to ask a question.
It was a brief conversation, but he acknowledged hearing something about John Kerry and a meeting in Kansas City. He asked if I had some good background information.
He will, of course, be given Tom Lipscomb's number to call. In addition, I request that you put up on this thread your most informative links. If you can, make them from the original sources, not what appeared on FreeRepublic. Thanks for the help.
Wouldn't it be refreshing to hear a White House briefing in which a reporter raised the question about the discussion of assassinating U.S. senators by a man now running for the presidency?

Rush is talking about this story now. Kansas City, FBI surveillance, assassination plots, Kerry resignation, Kerry campaign backpedalling on denials, etc.

ABC News had a brief mention of the KC Plot and Kerry's being there; they said the plot was voted down.
Was about 10 seconds of a larger Kerry story.

I agree with Enterprise's response. Of course the question won't be answered, but it will be out there for the world to see. Every reporter is going to want to get the story. Kerry will be on the defensive about his lying. People will start asking questions about a vote on assassination. This could be good news.

Wow. ABC actually talked about a plot? So what that it was voted down. Why didn't Kerry alert the authorities so they could warn the senators?

If your aim is to put Kerry on the defensive then have a reporter ask Kerry about it. You accomplish the same thing while leaving the Bush admin. out of it.

No one will ask Kerry directly until the question is being asked somewhere else. If asked at a WH briefing, it becomes news and allows the question of the Kerry camp. The administration will have no comment and not be seen as starting this issue. And it's true --- they are not starting this issue. They have not said word one about it.

He definitely needs to see the KC articles and NY Sun articles. If he just sees Newsmax, he will not take this seriously (I sure wouldn't if I were a WH press corps member).

I agree.
But it was damning to Kerry, but they only scratched the surface.

Isn't this AFTER they talked of assassinating Senators who supported the war in Vietnam???
Hold your fire! At least until AFTER tbe Dem convention. Geez, I just know we are gonna have Edwards or *gag* Hill if we shoot our wad to quick here :)

Since I'm the "homemaker" around here ( while my wife works 2 jobs in "the New E-conomy" ) a running joke between us is how much she's going to dock my pay ( zero from zero equally zero, of course ) for not having Sparkling Whites in the wash, keeping her ice water refilled, etc.
Naturally, I keep an imaginary Book of Demerits where I log all of her infractions, like leaving post-it notes in her pants pockets where they inevitably get forgotten and turned into inky mush by the washing machine.
I'll have to recheck that Circular File by the kitchen door...

Various | March 22nd, 2004 In 1971, Scott Camil, a Vietnam Vet who was radicalized by Jane Fonda during the Winter Soldier Investigation, and a subsequent colleague of Senator John Kerry while the latter was the Vietnam Veterans Against the War, was the architect of a proposed VVAW conspiracy to assassinate seven sitting U.S. Senators. The assassination plot was debated at a VVAW conference in Kansas City, on November 12-15, 1971, and a number of eyewitness accounts, as well as FBI files obtained by Kerry biographer under the Freedom of Information Act, have placed Senator Kerry at the Kansas City VVAW conference, despite denials by...

By then, the recollections of six witnesses, along with minutes and FBI records, placed Mr. Kerry at the Kansas City meeting. Oh, that meeting.
Sabertooth's links, Nicosia's book, the FBI records, the half dozen witnesses define the event and place Kerry there.
Senator, what was your response when your friend Scott Camil suggested assassinating seven Southern senators?
Did you echo Howard Dean's later remark that you could win without the South?
And why has your operative Hurley busied himself as the memory policeman regarding your presence at this meeting?
And just one more followup, have you offered Scott Camil and others positions in your campaign in exchange for their silence?
KERRY: That's not your business; it's mine.
