Britain has sent about 100 special forces to Afghanistan as the hunt for Al Qaeda leaders Osama bin Laden and Ayman Al-Zawahiri heats up, an airport official says.
The official, who asked not to be named, says the British soldiers arrived at Kabul International Airport on March 10 and left the same night for an unknown destination.
British special forces "looking like SAS" embarked from their plane and waited on the tarmac until nightfall before taking off in their vehicles.
A spokesman for the British embassy in Kabul says he is unable to comment on operations involving special forces.
Britain has a small number of troops serving as part of the 13,500 strong US-led coalition in Afghanistan.
However, there are some 420 British soldiers working as part of the NATO-led peacekeeping International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan.

It's the internationally famous SAS hostage negotiation team. They have an original approach - they parachute in, cut the bad guys' effin' froats, and then ask for surrender. No one ever seems to say 'no'...

My daughter's two brothers are in the US operation in Afghan. One is special forces, the other is with the ranger team that helped recover Jessica.
Glad to hear the SAS are there now. Hope the Aussie SF's also arrive. They're outstanding.

What's breaking news about this? We heard of their involvement a while back. And this is a very vague report. Rushed? Maybe SAS? zzzzz
