[history]
In March of last year, philosophy professor James Tuttle received a complaint that had been forwarded by his superior at Lakeland Community College in Ohio. The student letter-writer charged that Prof. Tuttle had made comments she deemed offensive to women and gays, and that he'd also shown signs of hostility to Muslim women. "I feel," she wrote, "as if I have been crushed, and forced to endure views that I do not agree with . . . we are supposed to be learning philosophy." But the main problem, the letter stressed, was the professor's excessive reference to his religion -- Catholicism. How, she wondered, would non-Catholic, liberal students "be able to defend themselves or even be able to learn in such a hostile learning environment?" The philosophy professor needed the separation of church and state explained to him; furthermore, the student said, his classes should be monitored and he should undergo counseling.

I would not recommend him teaching at LeMoyne College here in Syracuse, NY. He Catholic views as a philosopy teacher would not sit well with the Jesuit run college here.
My sister taking classes there complains about the endless dribble the professors talk about that have nothing to do about the class, but instead their political views or at times there anti-catholic views.

The spotlight can only be focussed in so many places. Addressing the most grievious abuses by the left is a step, but it is a far cry from liberating our educational system from leftism/liberalism/communism.

Maybe Christians should all wear armbands, so leftish bigots can wag their fingers and spit at will. So...tired of turning the other cheek....

My niece graduated from LeMoyne. The mumbo-jumbo religious "diversity" on display during the graduation ceremonies convinced me that there was nothing Catholic about the place.
On the other hand, Tuttle's alma mater, Duquesne, is not the most conservative Catholic school there is but I've met many graduates that are faithful Catholics and are well educated. Apparently, Dr. Tuttle is one of them.

" She, too, thought the instructor should
undergo treatment, in this case, via sensitivity training classes. "
First sensitivity classes will be tried, then they will start putting people in mental hospitals, and when that doesn't provide them with the utopian society -- then they will open work camps in Alaska. (This is an old story that doesn't get taught much in colleges today -- history will repeat itself.)

"The level of arrogance is unnerving . . . I think that you would be happier in a sectarian classroom." The obvious solution is to remove public funding from all education other than mathematics and let the people fund the sectarian classrooms they desire.

I would have thought that you and I would agree that the order and perfection of mathematics often offers proof that a Higher Intelligence is directing the universe...

I'm sorry to say this is not surprising. Anti-Catholicism is rampant among our so-called intellectuals, even at many Catholic colleges.

As you say. There's theoretical math and applied math. And the fact that so much theoretical math seems to fit the actual nature of the universe suggests a Designer or a Logos behind it.

How dare he hold a view different from hers!
The philosophy professor needed the separation of church and state explained to him; furthermore, the student said, his classes should be monitored and he should undergo counseling.
Leftists pining away for the day when they'll get to send Christians away for 're-education' or death.

The demonic left strikes again. I can't believe the prof even mentioned Christ. Shocking! He would have made less waves if he were a satanist.

Jesuits aren't Catholic, they are Jesuits.
