If you are intrested, please sign up to take part In Zogbys Interactive Poll group. I have been doing it for 4 years now and it is kind of fun. Zogby is a big Democrat Activist so getting more Freepers on this list would be a good thing. You get an email every so oftern and go to an online website to respond to the poll. They compare the on line group with their telephone polls as sort of a "Check" on their phone poll results.

Good idea, but I would cut and paste the link to a Google page. I would suspect that Zog could tell which website sent people to his site, and you don't want that happening.

As others have said, highlight and copy the address, then close your browser [kills temp history files]; re-open browser and paste it in the address bar.

You're ABSOLUTELY right! If you CLICK on a LINK here at F.R. the webmaster of the page you visit to will CERTAINLY KNOW that you were sent there by FreeRepublic!

Feel free to test this yourself, by clicking on this link at privacy.net.analyze
They will show you all that someone can easily learn about you by visiting a site. Especially note the http REFERER info will be reported, showing that you linked there from FREEREPUBLIC.COM.

Mister Robinson, have you ever considered turing OFF the referer option? I don't believe most freepers want it reported that they jumped to a page directly from FR. I believe it is easy to turn OFF in Apache.

If you cut and paste the link from post 1, it STILL reports
you came from F.R. because that link starts out with
http://freerepublic.com

and then it does a redirect to Zogby.

You have to CUT and PASTE the address shown in post 5.

How about you just go to your Internet Search engine, put in Zogby then click on what the search engine finds and go from there?

Zogby is looking for more folks to provide info to his polls, let's make sure he gets a good conservative input. Check the thread for some relevant info on security, and keeping your browser from telling where you are coming from.

CNN uses this for their polls. But .. if you go to another website and then enter CNN, they don't stop you. And .. these are the people who yell the loudest about FREE SPEECH.

I think this is a great idea. I do the Harris polls, which are more consumer product oriented.

But one thing REALLY bothers me. They have 'loging in' instead of 'loggin in' on their page!

If I understand you correctly, you are saying it is my
browser that is reporting the referer. So then, if I
read up on browser customizations and learn how to turn that off...
OR if I find some other browser that does not report the referer,
then the visiting site will never know? Does that sound correct?

What is going on with the polls? I have not heard the usual hourly poll results from any of the major media. I can only guess this means W has surged way ahead and they don't want anyone to know.
