White House to Kerry: Prove Assertion
Yahoo! News ^ | Mon, Mar 15, 2004 | SCOTT LINDLAW

WASHINGTON - The White House, seeking to raise credibility questions about Democrat John Kerry, suggested Monday that the presumptive nominee had lied when he said some foreign leaders privately back his candidacy.

Kerry should identify the leaders who purportedly hope he beats President Bush in November, White House spokesman Scott McClellan said. "Either he is straightforward and states who they are, or the only conclusion one can draw is that he is making it up to attack the president," the spokesman said.

McClellan put a sharper point on a response offered a day earlier by Secretary of State Colin Powell, who also had called on Kerry to name his foreign supporters, but had stopped short of accusing Kerry of manufacturing the claim.

Questioned about the White House criticism, Kerry told reporters, "They're trying to change the subject from jobs, health care, the environment and social security. They don't have a campaign so they're trying to divert it."

Kerry said at a fund-raiser last week in Florida that he's heard from some world leaders who quietly back his candidacy and who hope he defeats Bush in November.

Three times, McClellan repeated the charge that Kerry was "making it up." And he sought to turn Kerry's assertion to the White House's advantage by using it to raise questions about Kerry's credibility.

McClellan took issue with Kerry's suggestions that the Bush administration held up for political purposes announcement of an agreement with Libya to rid itself of weapons of mass destruction; and that the administration had rebuffed offers from Russia and France to avert the Iraq war.

"This is not the first time he has refused to back up his assertions," McClellan said.

McClellan's remarks came a day after Spanish voters ousted the conservative party that had strongly backed Bush on the Iraq war.

Asked whether the Spanish election results gave credence to Kerry's claim that some foreign leaders want to see Bush booted from the White House, McClellan chuckled.

"I think that if Senator Kerry is going to say he has support from foreign leaders then he needs to be straightforward with the American people and say who it is that he has spoken with and who it is that supports him," McClellan said.

Kerry is intervening with U.S. Foreign policy... The state department has a right to know who Kerry is speaking to.

A little sensitive today, aren't we?

"They're trying to change the subject from jobs, health care, the environment and social security. "

The environment, MAYBE, a Constitutional pervue of the federal government, but nothing else.

Why is it that we let them get away with their blatant disregard for the Constitution?

This brings to mind the lies x42 told about numerous black church burnings when he was a kid in Arkansas. They were proven to be LIES. If true, I hope it hangs JFingK and the defeat in November will destroy his politacal life forever. If it's a provable lie, so much the better.

Glenn Beck had some funny bits on this on his show this morning.

Kept having sound bites of people speaking in foreign languages and then would announce they were foreign leaders supporting Kerry (paid for, of course, by the John Kerry campaign fund.)

Anyway, this story has hit the mainline media outlets let's hope it hangs around so Kerry will have to sweat a little longer and be portrayed as the liar he is.

I dont care if Kerry lied or not (my assumption is he lies 100% of the time anyway - like most dems).

My problem is, WHY does kerry THINK (hard enough for him I guess) that the AMERICAN PEOPLE give a bulls assets WHAT other "world leaders" want? This is an election of THE UNITED STATES - it is OUR BUSINESS! Not the socialists Kerry hangs with!

This would be at least one reason to NOT vote for the imbecile (among the other million or so). Is Kerry trying to give other countries a say-so? The man is a TRAITOR!

Kerry is a fool as well. I'd love to meet him and tell him in person, and if he shook that finger at me...well.., enough of the damdems VOTE THEM ALL OUT!

Okay, Kerry lied. So what?

The sheeple figure ALL politicians lie. Some are better at it than others. Those others get caught more often, that's all.

Thus, whether he lies doesn't matter to the sheeple. "It's the economy, stupid."

Why is the Bush administration wasting their time on this stupid remark when there are literally dozens of more embarrassing things they can trot out about Kerry? He called our soldiers psychopaths for crying out loud!!

This Scott Lindlaw guy is a bad dude. He is one of the most BIASED writers out there -- consistently.

Is there anything we can do? Do you know of any phone number or email address he can be contacted at? He needs to be publically shamed for his blatant biased writing.
