Is Al-Qaeda trying to knock off American-allied governments? (Re: Socialist victory in Spain)

Is Al-Qaeda trying to knock off American-allied governments?

The victory of Socialist PSOE in the parliamentary elections, and the subsequent announcement that its leader and President-elect José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero will pull out the Spanish troops in Iraq may say so.

I think AQ is planning to hit allied countries in electoral times, so their leftist groups can hold their governments responsible for the attacks on the tune they supported the US in Afghanistan and/or Iraq (this may not apply in Britain, since Tony Blair is an honest lefty).

Could be Italy, Poland or Denmark next? Even Britain?

AQ wants to politically isolate the US, and if it takes killing to do so, they won't hesitate.

It's obvious to everyone, including the Spanish voters. Those who voted for Zapatero voted to capitulate and to subjugate themselves to fanatic Islam.

This win in Spain certainly has emboldened them now.

I think Kerry's refrain about dialogue with the terrorists is what triggered this new offensive, because offensive it is.

If an American president does not have the will to fight as Kerry would not, it has sent a terrible message to AlQueda and their groups that the entire world is vulnerable.

America will not and cannot protect you.

Click on this picture of Zapatero to see his swearing-in ceremony.

Question: If Bush was wrong about Iraq being a haven for Al Qaeda, why do the Spanish insist on withdrawing from Iraq in order to "make nice-nice" with Al Qaeda?

Poland is not a likely candidate for Islamic attacks. I just don't see it. They will fight back ferociously.

It will be interesting to see if the five terrorists in custory are released now. Will the Moroccan group demand their release with the threat of further bombings?

The most likely target is us. Before the November elections.

I wouldnt expect a great deal of success to come from this strategy. Watching a neighboring govt fall can work wonders in the area of growing cajones.

I'm sorry to hear Spain has elected a coward. Clearly, they voted on emotion and nothing more. Aznar did alot for that country in his term, including consistent economic growth. Nopw they have a socialist, please Spain may just become the next France.

It would seem so. And sad to us in the West who won't appease the terrorists. It would also seem that Spain has a short memory when it comes to their domination by the Moors for many centuries. It's also no coincidence, as I've said here before, that the first new Mosque in 500 years was built recently in Granada. One of the largest mosques built recently (planning ahead?), one of it's very first services included very fanatical, inciteful speeches by the imported imams. Shocker (w/ sarcasm).

Here and here.

The socialists are.

We, freedom loving Americans, are at war against the Axis of Terrorism, a global Axis consisting of destabilzing socialists entwined with the snakes (Castro, Al-Qaeda, North Korea, and other various flavors of totalitarian authority-based statism) that are their weapons by which they rob people of the self-determination to be free and to sacrifice for their neighbors' freedom, and make them afraid so that they forget, and give up, their rights and duties as free people, that is, to defend all our liberty.

Especially to defend Liberty's foundations.

The arms and explosives and other weaponry in the hands of Islamic fascists, largely comes from socialists.

Ya think? Of course they are, and they have to look no further back than the 1930's to realize that Europe is full of appeasers who will do anything to have a temporary peace. Let them all eat cake when they come calling in the future.

The next logical target would be Britain, actually. They are the only major member of the coalition that hasn't been hit, except for Poland, and they have lots of Muslims in their country (unlike Poland). They may think attacking Britain will further weaken Blair, who is in some difficulty, politically.

Of course, Britain would rally behind Blair if they were hit, unlike Spain which has gone French on us.

...this may not apply in Britain, since Tony Blair is an honest lefty...

Tony Blair is a genuine lefty, but that won't help. Remember, it isn't the left per se who are against the WOT. Leftists worldwide are anti-America; America is the motivating force behind the WOT; therefore, worldwide leftists oppose the WOT. True, liberals have no stomach for any war, no matter how necessary or justified, but their main motivation in this case is just reflexively opposing US interests.

al Queada's goal is motivating the anti-war vote, and Tony Blair, while a self-described socialist, is strongly anti-appeasment. Being a lefty won't save him.

One in Ten Muslims 'Back Terror Strikes on Us'

By James Lyons, Political Correspondent, PA News

More than one in 10 British Muslims back al Qaida-style terror strikes on the United States, a poll has revealed.

In the run up to the anniversary of war in Iraq, more condemned the recent Gulf conflict than attacks on America.

And almost half said they might consider becoming a suicide bomber if they lived as a Palestinian.

An overwhelming 80% say Britain and the US should not have launched the invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein.

That is significantly higher than the 73% opposed to terrorist strikes on the US, according to the ICM survey for The Guardian.

Attacks on the US by al Qaida or other groups were viewed as justified by 13% of the 500 British Muslims questioned.

Another 15% said they did not know whether the such attacks are wrong or right.

Far fewer, 10%, said Prime Minister Tony Blair and US President George Bush were right to go to war.

Liberal Democrat MP Jenny Tonge provoked fury when she said that despite condemning violence living as a Palestinian could have driven her to become a suicide bomber.

However, 47% of Muslims agreed compared with just 15% of all of those questioned.

Ms Tonge’s comments were rejected by 43% of Muslims and 78% of all voters.

Continuing Islamic hostility to the war is costing Mr Blair support at the polls.

Backing for Labour among British Muslims has slipped from 75% at the last election to just 38%, the poll showed.

However, overall the party remains ahead on 37% despite a fall of one point on last month.

Conservatives are up one on 35% while the Liberal Democrats remain on 21%.

The Muslim Council of Britain said the poll shows most British Muslims “abhor” terror attacks.

And if a minority believe the US deserves to suffer more such attacks, that shows the US is losing trust.

Iqbal Sacranie, general secretary of the council, said the poll results surprised him, particularly the 13% who feel further attacks on the US would be justified.

And he stressed most of the people polled were questioned before the terror attacks in Spain.

“My gut feeling is that the poll is not right or fair,” added Mr Sacranie. “The 13% reflects emotions are running high.

“But the percentage of Muslims that would support attacks when they are taking place would be much much lower.”

He said: “British Muslims are much more frustrated than the general population with US foreign policy.

“At the end of the day it’s a Muslim population around the world on the receiving end of trouble and bias in terms of US policy.”

One of Britain’s most radical Muslim leaders said he believed the majority of Muslims in the UK supported al Qaida-style terror attacks on the United States.

Sheikh Omar Bakri Muhammad, who heads the London-based group Al-Muhajiroun, said British Muslims were afraid to voice their real feelings about the coalition war in Iraq.

And he claimed that far more were pro-Osama bin Laden than really admitted.

“I am sure the real figure who support al Qaida is much higher than one in 10.

“Since the introduction of the new anti-terrorism laws, Muslims are terrified to speak their minds.

“I believe it is the majority of Muslims in the West who support al Qaida. This is beyond doubt.

“The role of the suicide bomber in Palestine is a noble one – to fight for freedom for his people and become a martyr. Why is it strange for Muslims to want to be part of this?”

ICM questioned 500 Muslims between March 3-11 and another 1,014 other adults between March 10-11.

If we follow Spain's "Pussy New World" strategy of electing cowering, thumb-sucking U.N. resolution writing socialists like Kerry, we're all Al Qaeda hostages awaiting execution.

It' reasonable to expect AQ to use terrorism where it will most likely succeed in intimidation and a change in policy. Some people get angry when they're attacked, others just run away. The Poles and the U.K. will stand fast; AQ accurately suspected Spain to be a weak sister.
