[history]
March 15, 2004 -- The liberal media's bias against President Bush is as legendary as it is insidious, so his bid for reelection is sure to be a heavy lift. Are the Bush folks up to it?
So far, it seems not.

GWB needs a powerhouse VP out there continually. Much as I can't stand him, Al Gore was out there for Clinton all the time.

I think that the Bush team is simply holding their cards close and will lay out all the facts in a TV commercial blitz.
The, when they have the dems fighting them on it, the Bush team will hit them on the other side of the jaw with national security issues. The dems will be left on the defensive at exactly the right moment.
It is a process, and it is exactly what Karl Rove will do.

So far their ads look absolutely innane, inspid, banal and trite. What teeny-tiny bit of substance they have in them brings out howls of protest from the Left.
Why not take the gloves off and tell the bald truth? Why sugar-coat it? The left can't howl any louder than it's already howling, so why try to calm them?
The current Bush ads, in my opinion, are a form of appeasement. Appeasing the lying liberal media. Appeasing the howlers on the left.
Appeasement does not work.
At the beginning of WWII Roosevelt and his crew had to come up with a propaganda campaign against the Nazis. They hit on the idea of simply taking the Nazi speeches and broadcasts themselves, subtitling them, and showing them directly to the American people. It was extremely powerful and it worked.
I'm not saying the same method can be used here. Just replaying the rants of rats from the rat debates, for example, isn't going to do anything but give the rats more air time. And they've had plenty of that.
What I am saying is that when you're up against a determined propaganda machine --- as Roosevelt was against the Nazis --- you have to come up with something powerful in response.
"Steady leadership", though true, is not powerful. It is trite.
When W is sitting unemployed on his ranch next February wondering what went wrong, I believe he will say something along the lines of: "Why did I settle for trite?"

The Bush Team better get off their laurels and kick this campaign into overdrive or we will be stuck with a commie for a president. It's time for the Bush team to put the attack on the Pentagon into it's Ads not New York. Kerry doesn't believe they attacked the Pentagon and that fact is Kerry's Achilles heel. When they attacked the Pentagon, they attacked our military. So from then on it was not a criminal matter, but a military matter and Kerry doesn't know this. He said he would make it a criminal matter once more (just like his predecessor).

If we destroy Kerry before the Domocratic convention, WHAT HAVE WE ACCOMPLISHED??? We have to wait until Sept. or Oct. Let it play out! Kerry has too much baggage to win.
To: samtheman
I believe you still do not get it. Bush's ads are perfect for now. They are subtle, get out a message and are really pissing off the RATS.
What you have to realize is that people are seeing this. They see Kerry's negativity in positive times. They see that the Kerry camp is doing everything it can to make Bush look bad and frankly, they aren't doing so well.
Bush's ads, are like chihuahas that nip at your heals. It doesn't do much damage, people can watch it in amusement and the person being bitten, in frustration, rips at the cute lil doggies heart, while everyone views it with contempt. The only difference is that the press isn't reporting the contempt like most Americans come to expect.
Americans aren't stupid. Most know what is at stake and in the end will vote for a rebounding recovery and national security than "Anyone But Bush."

Appeasement does not work. Obviously, the people of Spain did not understand this.
They just handed Al Qaeda a HUGE victory in WWIV.

I get a chuckle out of these traitorous rats.
First, back in 2001 when the Republicans started warning the public that the economy had been showing signs of recession, the dems criticized that saying we were in effect, "talking down" the economy.
Now look at 'em.

The twin towers represented the seat of capitalism, something half our country has no warm feeling about anyway.

EQ, I really hope you're right.
But I'll believe it when I see it. I think the Republicans (with the exception of Ronald Reagan The Great) have a long history of being absolutely inept at getting out their own message.
I've been frustrated with this for years (except during the wonderful Reagan years) and I seriously doubt that your promise "wait until later" will come true. There's too much white-bread in the history of Republican campaign ads. I'm hoping for some whole grain, but I'm not optimistic.

"It is a process, and it is exactly what Karl Rove will do." I agree.
We have time.
Its kinda like a football game. You don't want to leave your "Game" on the practice field. Save your energy for the fourth quarter.

This is crazy. Let the Dems caterwaul all they want about the economy! If the numbers above are true, and I beleive they are, then who will people beleivwe? The lying Dems or their own pocketbook?
Look around you. When you shop and dine, are the stores empty or are they full? Are the airlines flying empty aircraft, or are they full? Are resort hotels and hot vacations spots booked solid, or are they vacant? This is crazy.
