I can't afford that trip unless I can get someone to check out the thumb I got stuck out there for the trip...Major $$$ issues nowadays...I got a stockpile of ammo and a few evil guns to pop off, but I can't leave "wife unit" without wheels (down to one vehicle temporarily)...And she doesn't really shoot, and is kinda on the fringe as far as FReeping is concerned...

So I am going to sit back and wait and see what happens...

I'll go with the majority on this one, but if I can't get out to SA for the shoot, I'll go spend a Saturday annoying the shiite out of smelly commie pinko bastages...No problemo...

Middle Tennessee Strikes Back!

MIDDLE TENNESSEE CONSERVATIVES, GOOD CITIZENS and FREE REPUBLIC MEMBERS:

A Call To Mobilize in Response to A.N.S.W.E.R.-Sponsored “Say No To War” Protest and March on Saturday, March 20, 2003; Noon to 2:00 PM

Please come out in support of our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq and help counter media’s lopsided depiction of public opinion. Nothing boosts those who serve better than seeing the folks at home backing their efforts!

The “Nashville Coalition For Peace” will gather at the small park by the new “Musica” statue on Music Row Circle at noon for speeches, march down Demonbreun Avenue to the Federal Building located at 801 Broadway at 1:00 PM where they will have a protest rally at 1:30.
Let's show America and our boys (and girls) over there fighting that the majority of us are calm-minded, intelligent people and that the protestors really are in the minority!

We hope to have a good turnout at the Federal Building by 11:30 and will coordinate from there. There’s plenty of parking in surrounding areas, some automated so don’t forget machine-readable bills. The Federal Building is next to the Frist Center Museum, so people with families can take advantage of the day and visit this marvelous facility.

The more signs the better! Please use lettering 3-inches or larger printed neatly as possible if you’d like to see your message legible in print or on television. Simplicity and good taste are more effective than long and harsh messages.

Comfortable shoes are a must. PATRIOTIC WEAR, especially hats, really stands out and helps us quickly sort ourselves from the anti-Americans
Bullhorns and megaphones are good to bring if you have them, as well as portable water and snacks. FLAGS! United States and Tennessee, if you have them. Representations on posters are great, too. Please bring and use your cameras (and put your stuff on Free Republic).

Hope to see “ya’ll” there. Help show the rest of the country why ours is the Volunteer State! Please bring any friends you can to help SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!

I suggest the police headquarters because tawara wrote this about the Leftist marchers:

"We will gather in Rosewood Park at 9:30 am and begin with an indigenous ceremony. At 10 am we start the march down Rosewood Ave. We will go past the complex where Sophia King was shot by an Austin Police officer and stay for a moment of silence. We will then pass the new homes being built as part of a gentrification plan and we will end up the Police Headquarters for a rally between 11:00 am and Noon. Some people will leave from there to travel to Crawford, Texas for a peace march and rally."

Rosewood Ave is near 11th street in East Austin. The police HQ is 8th street near I-35.
So they will march around East Austin for an hour then show up at the police HQ. No sense traipsing around with them. Let's 'greet' them.

I suggest we meet near the police station at 8th and I-35 access road corners at 10:30am Saturday and await the Leftist marchers, who will arrive between 10:30 and 11.

Just got back from Spring Break tonight and got your guys' Freepmails and emails. I have to be at caucus training Sat. from 9AM until .... ? But if it's not over by 10:45, I'll leave anyway and come over there.

Joe from the VFW left me a phone message re the same newspaper article about the local leftists and their planned "coffin parade". I called him back. He was upset about the possibility they might be planning to march right through the middle of our weekly Support-The-Troops rally. That's certainly possible, since they are leaving from 629 S. Howes - 2 blocks West and 1-1/2 blocks South of us, and heading to Old Town - 5 blocks North and 2 blocks East. The Vets will of course be standing in the usual place, and I'm sure they plan to stand their ground. Are you interested in shadowing the Leftists' march, or do you think that would only make their group look larger?

Since they call themselves "Strength Through Peace," perhaps a big "Peace Through Strength" sign would be apropot? Or "Peace Through Superior Firepower"?

So if they're going to carry a casket to symbolize the deaths of Iraqis and U.S. military personnel, maybe we should have our own casket to symbolize the 100's of millions who have died as a result of pacifism?

Pacifists, to my knowledge, have never managed to convince both sides of a looming conflict to back down and avoid war. Rather, their track record consists of convincing democracies - the only type of government they have any leverage with - to back down and give in to totalitarian foes. The war always comes anyway, but the long delay works to the benefit of the totalitarian state and makes the war much longer and bloodier than it would have been.

Woodrow Wilson's listening to the pleas of homegrown pacifists was a factor in our not entering WWI until after three years of bloody stalemate that killed 10's of millions of Europeans. If T.R. had won the 3-way election of 1912, he likely would have entered the war quickly, tipping the balance in favor of the allies. A quick end would not only have saved lives numbering in the seven figures, but it would have also prevented much of the bitterness over the incredibly costly defeat and the harsh treaty terms that led Germany into a second war, and would have done away with the single worst legacy of WWI - three quarters of a century of Communist rule of Russia.

And then of course there is the lesson of Munich in 1938, which you readers already know, (except of course for you leftist lurkers). Perhaps 6 million Stars Of David should be added to the casket of Pacifism's victims. (I wonder how small a font you'd need to get a million of those on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper?)

And look at the effects of "60's pacifism" on the South Vietnamese people!
