WASHINGTON, March 12 (UPI) -- A survey by a Washington pollster released Friday found a majority of those surveyed think terrorists would prefer to have Sen. John F. Kerry as president.
The Andres McKenna Research survey of 800 registered voters shows Kerry defeating Bush in the general election, 47 percent to 45 percent, with 9 percent undecided.
Asked, "Who do you think the terrorists would prefer to have as president," the independent poll found that 60 percent said Kerry while 25 percent said Bush.
The poll, which has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points, also found that 51 percent of those surveyed thought Bush would win the 2004 election against 39 percent who said Kerry.

This poll is not surprising at all.
This shows the mistrust of Kerry (on the issue of terrorism)by the American people.
This poll also shows some fundamental irony for Kerry this fall - should there be an event of terror attack, it will reforcus the public on the issue of security instead of silly crap like cheap drugs, different ways to count employment blah blah - and if there is no more terror attck, the public will maintain its high approval for Bush on this issue...
The bomb attack over Spain could impact the public sentiment a bit here, most people are ranking the issue of terrorism much lower than other domestic issues, and I wonder if the Spain bombings would refocus the public on this issue.

Maybe they polled too many of
the Oprah Winfrey & Soap Opera
crowd - even while trying not to.
Lots of folks might lie to the
questioner. But even THEY know
W is the tough one, & W is right
at break-even territory here.

Most of them think Bush will win, so they won't have to deal with the consequences of what is probably a protest vote on outsourcing. They might vote differently if they thought it mattered.
What exactly do you mean, egg on my face?

Yeah, I tell myself this, too.
We even are beginning to think that some people we know, who are definitely liberals, will *secretly* vote Bush and not tell their spouse or anyone about it. One man, after the Madrid attack, noted that Kerry had just said terror was exaggerated, saying the attacks blew that idea out of the water.
Other people who call themselves Independents because they are too superior to admit they vote Dem, just look blank when we say positive things about GWB. It is obvious that they have not heard anyone say this.
It is good that Kerry can't get a big edge, although there are some polls out there that give him 50+%.
It just boggles my mind that people cannot seem to understand how important security and integrity are.

Well, the margins by which people think he will win have eroded about 10 points in the past few weeks.
I agree with you. I just think they are foolish if they are that complacent.

Yes, I estimate that AT LEAST 45% of the American public are malleable dolts who mindlessly permit the leftist media to shape their 'feelings' relative to any given issue. That said, this poll is GOOD news for the President.
It indicates that most (even the walking braindead) believe that President Bush is the better candidate when it comes to security issues!!
And even though the media has given Kerry months of unprecedented SYCOPHANTIC coverage, Kerry can only manage a STATISTICAL TIE with the President!
RESULTS FROM TWO OTHER RECENT POLLS:
INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY POLL conducted by TIPP, the polling arm of TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence.
March 8-11, 2004. N=743 registered voters nationwide.
GWB 46% Kerry 43% Undecided 12%
GWB 45% Kerry 40% Nader 6% Undecided 8%.
[These results represent an IMPROVEMENT for the President over last week!]

AT THIS POINT IN THE ELECTION CYCLE, THE PRESIDENT IS DOING JUST FINE!
