A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest!   We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

Those are some fantastic pictures of our Naval Air Force in action! Looks like some choppy seas in that second pic.

That was a good hearted thing for you to do.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Spain during this terrible time. Could it be time for another Spanish Inquisition?

A Little Bit Of Heaven

Sure, a little bit o' Heaven
Fell out of the sky one day,
And nestled on the ocean,
In a spot so far away;

And the Angels found it,
And it looked so sweet and fair,
They said suppose we leave it,
For it looks so peaceful there!
So they sprinkled it with stardust

Just to make the shamrocks grow;
'Tis the only place you'll find them,
No matter where you go;

Then they dotted it with silver
To make it's lakes so grand,
And when they had it finished,
Sure they called it Ireland!!

May the luck of the Irish
be with you today and always!

At all times we are to remember the goodness of the Lord and make a
conscious effort to be thankful. It is easy for us to pick and choose what
to be thankful for, but if we take a moment and think about the privileges
that surround us, we will realize our shortcomings in giving thanks. There
are some who look out of their window and see snowflake's and grumble about
the cold weather, but that one should be thankful that they have the
eyesight to see such beauty that is often taken for granted. There are
some who get in their car and drive to work dreading the day ahead of them,
but that one should be thankful to have a car to drive in and a job to
support their living. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) (Ephesians 1:3-10)

We have been given free will to be thankful for all that we have or grumble
and complain at the "disappointments". I would encourage you to be thankful
and simply lift up your eyes to the Lord giving praise to Him for all that
He has given you. You will find that having an attitude of appreciation
and thanksgiving brings both the joy of the Lord into your life as well as
His peace that surpasses all understanding. (Hebrews 13:15) (Philippians 4:6-7)

I hope you are encouraged by today's message.

THANKS FOR THE MISERY

Some stories can stand dusting off. Like the one about a grandmother who
took her little grandson to the beach. They were having a good time until
a huge wave came in and swept the boy out to sea. She fell down on her
knees and pleaded to the heavens, "Please return my grandson -- that's all
I ask! Please!!!"

A moment later, lo and behold, a wave swelled from the ocean and deposited
the wet, yet unhurt, child at her feet. She checked him over to make sure
that he was okay. He was fine. But still she looked up to the heavens
angrily and said, "When we came he had a hat!"

We expect her to give thanks for this extraordinary thing which happened.
We're taught to show appreciation for that special act of kindness or
consideration which is given. Yet, can we also say thanks when all is not
so well? And better yet, should we?

A few years ago, someone stole my wife's purse. In the hassle of going
about the business of helping her to replace lost cards and identification,
I recalled the words of author Matthew Henry. Henry, too, was robbed. Yet
he found the grace to give thanks about his situation. He said, "I give
thanks that I have never been robbed before; that although he took my
wallet, he did not take my life; that although he took everything, it was
not much; and finally, that it was I who was robbed and not I who robbed."

He may as well have said, "Thanks for the misery!" Except that Henry was
not miserable. After all, it is difficult to feel miserable when we are
busy giving thanks.

Let us have a Joyous attitude and outlook on life no matter how strong the
temptation is to complain. The Lord has done many wonders in our lives
and deserves the praises of His people. The Bible declares in Psalm 100:4-5
"Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise:
be thankful unto Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy
is everlasting; and His truth endureth to all generations."

Be encouraged to be thankful and know that it is God's desire to bless you
and increase your happiness. Having an attitude of thanksgiving reinforces
God's desire to bless you so that you may be a blessing. (Luke 12:31-32)

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Psalm 100:1-3 "Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the
LORD with gladness: come before His presence with singing. Know ye that
the LORD He is God: it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we
are His people, and the sheep of His pasture."

Colossians 3:15-17 "And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the
which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of
Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one
another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in
your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in
the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him."

Psalm 103:2-5 "Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits:
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who
redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness
and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy
youth is renewed like the eagle's."

Thank God for Old Geezers!

"Geezers" (slang for an old man) are easy to spot:

At sporting events, during the playing of the National Anthem, Old Geezers hold their caps over their hearts and sing without embarrassment. They know the words and believe in them. Old Geezers remember World War I, the Depression, World War II, Pearl Harbor, Guadalcanal, Normandy and Hitler. They remember the Atomic Age, the Korean War, The Cold War, the Jet Age and the Moon Landing, not to mention Vietnam.

If you bump into an Old Geezer on the sidewalk, he will apologize. If you pass an Old Geezer on the street, he will nod or tip his cap to a lady. Old Geezers trust strangers and are courtly to women. Old Geezers hold the door for the next person and always, when walking, make certain the lady is on the inside for protection.

Old Geezers get embarrassed if someone curses in front of women and children and they don't like any filth on TV or in movies. Old Geezers have moral courage. They seldom brag unless it's about their grandchildren.

It's the Old Geezers who know our great country is protected, not by politicians or police, but by the young men and women in the military serving their country.

This country needs Old Geezers with their decent values. We need them now more than ever.

Thank God for Old Geezers!

Costly Consequences

Read: 1 Samuel 13:1-15

You have not kept the commandment of the Lord . . . . Now your kingdom shall not continue. —1 Samuel 13:13-14

Bible In One Year: Deuteronomy 23-25; Mark 14:1-26

I always knew that disobedience has consequences, but it came home to me forcibly in basic training during World War II. I had traveled beyond the distance allowed on my weekend pass to be with my wife Ginny, and I returned to camp late because the train had broken down. I paid for my rule-breaking—20 hours of extra duty washing pots and pans!

King Saul also learned the high cost of disobedience. He faced the prospect of fighting a huge well-equipped Philistine army with his small band of frightened and untrained followers. While waiting for Samuel to come and offer a sacrifice before going to battle, Saul became impatient and offered the sacrifice himself, even though he knew that God had given that right only to the priests. It was a costly mistake.

Saul had begun his reign with humility and compassion, and he gave God the credit (1 Samuel 11). And the prophet Samuel told him that God would have kept the kingship in his family if he had obeyed God's command (13:13-14). But that one act of disobedience changed the course of his life. From that point on, it was a sad downhill journey.

Never forget that disobedience has consequences. And some of them may be very costly. —Herb Vander Lugt

O help me, Lord, to be afraid
Of disobedient ways;
And may I seek what pleases You,
What gives You highest praise. —Sper

The way of obedience is the only way of blessing.

GOOD MORNING EVERYBODY!!!!!

HAPPY LORD'S DAY TO YOU ALL!!!

THIS IS THE DAY THE LORD HAS MADE!

LET US REJOICE AND BE GLAD IN IT!

So!

Jean Kerry want's to have a series of debates with President Bush?

After his "slip_of_the_toungue-I_forgot_the_mic_was_on" moment?

He really insulted me with that insensative and untrue remark.

I'm a proud Republican and a GOD fearing CHRISTIAN WOMAN!

Hear that Jean F(For Frenchman) Kerry?

Now on that note!

Null and Void told me to consider the source of that inane remark by a man who would abandon our country to the "mercy"of those terrorists and destroy our military as well as our way of life if elected president.

Hey! I think I managed to "Hannitize" a woman I know in my fraternity of Secular Franciscans.

I had help from another Conservative Republican though! HEE! HEE!

But if I am to get at least three people each to vote for the Republican candidates for all offices up for grabs this election year. then I have two more folks to "Hannitize"!

(Hmm! Maybe I could Hannitize a certian Dem bus-driver!)LOL!

But back to that insensative remark about Republicans being a bunch of crooks and liars!

BALDERDASH!

As human beings, we are all flawed to some degree. weather Democrat or Republican;Black or White;Christian or Jew or Muslim!

If we were ALL perfect there would be no wars or terrorists.

Jean Kerry is unfairly labeling a certain group of people in one lump. Now I ask you, is this any way for a would-be leader of a nation to be?

NEVER!

He's starting to remind me of Saddam Hussien!

Like Hussian, Kerry has no love for America or the American people.

Just like Saddam Hussian had no love for Iraq or the Iraqi people!

It scares me to death to think there are people out there who would willingly elect a man like Jean Kerry to the highest office in the land.

The tragedy of it would be that not only will the Dems regret thier choice, but WE ALL will pay dearly for this!

PLEASE DEAR GOD! LET PRESIDENT BUSH WIN IN NOVEMBER!

Not only for my sake but for the sake of the future of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and our FREE REPUBLIC!

GOD BLESS AND PROTECT PRESIDENT BUSH FROM ALL HARM BOTH PHYSICAL, SPIRITUAL and POLITICAL

MAY HIS ENEMIES BE FEW AND HIS FRIENDS BE MANY!

GOD BLESS AND PROTECT OUR BRAVE TROOPS AND GIVE THEM STRENGTH AND COURAGE AND BRING THEY SAFELY HOME

GOD BLESS AND PROTECT JIM ROBINSON AND ALL WHO POST AND LURK ON FREE REPUBLIC!

GOD BLESS AND PROTECT AMERICA AND HER ALLIES

WITH SPECIAL ATTENTION TO SPAIN.

:/RANT AND PRAYER OVER! :O)
