American Charged With Spying (For IRAQ) - Update: Former Mosely Braun,Lofren, DeFazio, and Wyden Aid

NEW YORK -- An American citizen was arrested Thursday on charges she acted as an Iraqi spy, prosecutors said.

Susan Lindauer, 41, was arrested in her hometown of Takoma Park, Md., and was to appear in court later in the day in Baltimore, authorities in New York said.

it is more than fair to look into who her government contacts were, and draw the appropriate inferences

My bet is there are a lot of Democrats, both Congresscritters and staffers, who are sweating hard and will be operating the shredders far into the night.

Is it possible this entire "Kerry flap" is merely another purposeful diversion from what is really going on, sort of a pre-emptive strike on this story?

Clinton did this sort of thing all the time!

zoe Lofgren's (D-CA) Office issued a press release that Lofgren didn't think this woman had any access to sensitive information. Lofgren will cooperate in the investigation.

ONE SUSAN LINDAUER was arrested today on charges that she acted as a spy for the Iraqi Intelligence service, and accepted $10,000 for the information she gathered. See the full story here.

Lindauer is identified as a "Takoma Park, MD woman" in news accounts, which allege that she made multiple visits from October 1999 through March 2002 to the Iraqi Mission to the United Nations in New York. She also traveled to Baghdad in February and March of 2002.

As of April 2002, a Susan Lindauer was in the employ of Democratic Rep. Zoe Lofgren of California, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Lindauer previously worked in the press offices of Democrats Rep. Peter DeFazio of Oregon (from approximately May 1993 to January 1994), Sen. Ron Wyden of Oregon (starting in January 1994), and Former Sen. Carol Moseley Braun of Illinois (from January 1996 to September 1996).

Lindauer also gave a deposition in the investigation of the 1998 Lockerbie airline terror bombing.

Moseley Braun says that she "doesn't remember" Lindauer. But a spokesman for one of the congressmen confirmed that it was "extremely likely" that the woman in question was a former congressional aide and press secretary for the four Democratic congressmen.

The real news here is not that she worked for Mosley Braun. This spy worked for people who are still sitting in Congress! Most recently, U.S. Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), and less recently; U.S. Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-OR) and U.S. Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR).
Braun is small potatoes compared to these three who still hold their respective seats.

Mosely-Braun couldn't remember Lindauer per abc radio news this afternoon. The other guy distanced himself from Lindauer too, said she left his employ in 1995. BUT, SHE'S STILL A DEMRAT. She was on tv today and instead of being quiet, she yelled at the media "I am innocent. I am an anti-war activist. I helped more than you know..." (helped herself to $10,000 and WHAT ELSE?) She's a dumb blonde, forgive me blondes but in this case, the term fits.
