I hate to say it this way, but if he was wounded it could've been Chinese frags.

You know, we don't begrudge Kerry his medals.......but you look at your wall and are reminded of how it got there, my brother in law has a Purple Heart, and he came back in a wheelchair, paralyzed from the chest down after taking VC shrapnel in his back. It really must troubling to you, as it is to me and to many, many vets, of ALL wars (and their families), to think that Kerry could demean their service by "inflating" his own. I have to admit...one Purple Heart for each month he was there......I'm no military statistician, but I may have a better chance on the lottery! Thank you for your service!

John Kerry's first request for a deferment from active duty was denied.

I suspect that JohnEffingKerry enlisted only after his "war record and future political career"(ala JFK); was being concocted over cocktails at the Kennedy Compound in Hyanissport.

I've always figured Kerry got his medals because he was a Kennedy family suck buddy. It doesn't sound like he did anything that the rest of the Vietnam grunts didn't do routinely every day.
And three Purple Hearts in four months without so much as a day in the hospital or any convalescent leave? BS!! The RATS insisted on GW showing his ANG records, let's see Kerry's records.

Excellent post. They way I heard it, Kerry chased the wounded VC into a hut and killed him there. Perhaps the VC grabbed an AK and pointed it at Kerry, at which time killing the VC would have been proper, but I am skeptical. At any rate, I don't see how this merited a Silver Star.

It's probably worth beating the drums throughout the campaign for Kerry to release his military records.

From the looks of things, he can't afford to, and refusing may raise a few red flags even among the apolitical...

Now there's a tag line:

John Kerry: Kennedy family suck buddy since 1961.

... or whatever.

Someone asked earlier if anyone had contacted the crew on his boat. The only time I have ever heard them mentioned is by the author Brock. The one who did the book on Kerry. Can't remember the name of the book, but when Fox did the first segment on "All Vets Aren't With Kerry" on Friday, Brock was on there saying he had talked with the crew and they did not care for Kerry at all. Wonder why nobody tracks them down?

Naah, I'm saying nothing of the kind....
I was trying to politely avoid saying that I think Kerry is a lying, back stabbing, duplicitous, manipulative, overly ambitious, untrustworthy, lecherous, traitorous son of a bitch.....whose has done more "flips & flops" than my shower shoes.

"Wonder why nobody tracks them down?"

Now, THAT'S an idea with some worth!!!

It is strange that the only "witness" from that era that I've seen come forward was the SF guy Kerry pulled out of the water.....

Kerry had a crew --- it would be very interesting to hear from them.... They SHOULD be proud to come forward and acknowledge that Kerry was their "leader"......

Surely - at least ONE of his crew could attest to the nature of his wounds....and how he got them....unless they were the result of a failed fragging....

It would also be interesting to hear their comments on Kerry beaching their boat - jumping ashore and "having do" with the wounded/dead Charlie...

I was a gunner on PBR 287 and saw heavy action. I question the severity of anyone who got 3 PH's in 4 months. Most guys had enough dignity to refuse PH's for anything less than a serious wound. But then 'dignity' always seems to be in short supply when you're talking dem politicos.

I read in a piece on Slate that the Boston Globe and the London Times asked him to release them, and he refused.
