McCain: I'd Entertain Kerry VP Offer
NewsMax/AP ^ | 3/10/04 | Limbacher

Republican Sen. John McCain allowed a glimmer of hope Wednesday for Democrats fantasizing about a bipartisan dream team to defeat President Bush.

McCain said he would consider the unorthodox step of running for vice president on the Democratic ticket — in the unlikely event he received such an offer from the presidential candidate.

"John Kerry (news - web sites) is a close friend of mine. We have been friends for years," McCain said Wednesday when pressed to squelch speculation about a Kerry-McCain ticket. "Obviously I would entertain it."

But McCain emphasized how unlikely the whole idea was.

"It's impossible to imagine the Democratic Party seeking a pro-life, free-trading, non-protectionist, deficit hawk," the Arizona senator told ABC's "Good Morning America" during an interview about illegal steroid use. "They'd have to be taking some steroids, I think, in order to let that happen."

McCain gained a reputation as a party maverick who appeals to independent voters during his 2000 race against Bush for the Republican nomination. This year, McCain has campaigned for the president and said he would continue to do so.

Unlike some other Republican senators, he hasn't railed against Kerry, a fellow Vietnam veteran. McCain called the Kerry-Bush contest "the nastiest campaign so far that we have seen" and said he preferred campaigning for candidates instead of against their opponents.

Consider this scenario: McCain puts out the word that he would consider it. Kerry offers. Then McCain says, "I can't do it. Bush is my candidate." That would make Kerry look like a complete fool and his second pick look even more like a fool.

Hey, I know this plan is way too intelligent for McCain but, I can hope, can't I.

John McCain is a loose cannon. He has always been a loose cannon. He will always be a losse cannon. For those not familiar with that phrase, it refers to something that happened on early sailing warships. The cannons had to be lashed in place, because otherwise they would run on their wheels from side to side in bad weather, stove out the sides of the ship and sink it.

The saving grace of this story is that Kerry would earn such enmity from other Democrats for allowing a Republican to parachute into the Veep job that he would never consider it. So, chalk this story up to McCain shooting from the lip, no more, no less. It has no relevance in the real world.

I think this is a lot of media hype, McCain said will I be offered no no no, He has been at FEC today saying he will sue if they don't stop 527. Very upset about Soros. He had a very hard time burying the hatchet with Kerry over what happened to
him as a prisoner of war, I don't think he buried it that deep. McCain likes headlines and is playing with the media.

Here's a closer meaning of the term "slut".

Let's see, McCain was mentally abused by his Viet Cong captors with the news that Kerry and his ilk were helping them win the war. Now they've been close friends for years? God, I hate politicians...

Seems like Arizona needs to run a Republican against McCain next time he's up for re-election.

John likes attention. Heretofore, he's been out of the loop.

Now he's the center of attention. Color John happy.

McCain's playing for his few moments in the spotlight again this time around.... Maybe his last. Remember he's President Bush's campaign co-chair in Arizona isn't he?

This got started in an article from the New York Post over a week ago by Deborah Orin quoting McCain.....

February 26, 2004 -- THE Democratic dream candidate for vice president on a John Kerry ticket is a Republican - Vietnam War superhero John McCain. The Republican fantasy for Kerry's veep is New York's own Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. But it looks like zero chance. Few pols have more credibility than McCain - no wonder Kerry never misses a chance to cite him. Kerry's four months in Vietnam combat are central to his campaign bio. Imagine if he could add McCain's 51/2 years as a hero POW in the Hanoi Hilton.

But McCain says no way. "Do you think the Democrats would want a pro-life, free-trading fiscal conservative? They'd be smoking something pretty strong, stronger than they usually do," McCain (R-Ariz.) told The Post. "I will not leave the Republican Party."

I don't think McCain is going anywhere....

I've heard about it before. And everyone jumping to McCain's defense don't be so hasty. McCain is practically Kerry's girlfriend. They both had the same pro Hanoi agenda in the senate. He also entertains Chapaquiddick Kenny at his home in AZ. Who's bosom buddies with the Kennedy clan? KERY. McCain co-sponsored and co-WROTE the McCain/Feingold CFR bill. Which candidate is taking advantage of loopholes written into it by the guy who is still trying to convince us there's a loophole in gun shows? KERRY is, via Theresa, George and a bunch of his other co-billionaire buddies.

Coincidence? No. McCain is too far gone, I'm telling you.

Don't make too much out of this. McCain has been pretty strongly supportive of Bush lately and has scoffed at this idea of being Kerry's VP. Of course, he'd "entertain" or "consider" the idea if Kerry asked him. I dare say that Dick Cheney would stop and think about it if Kerry asked him--he'd stop and consider what the heck Kerry was thinking!

The publicity will hopefully flush McCain's future. As far as Kerry is concerned, McAuliffe is already a welcomed member of the team. The Clinton's won't accept this McCain idea.

I saw the interview and the libs are making something of nothing... it simply doesn't exist, another chance to make Republicans seem divided, that is all it is.

John McCain Exposed! Photographed in his Natural Habitat!

Squirrel of the Month

John McCain

Stay away from my nuts! After being asked, repeatedly, to make Senator John McCain our squirrel of the month; We, here at the Global Squirrel Network have looked into the matter and decided:

1) He does seem to have the ability to draw people to him . . . as do squirrels.

2) He also possesses the unique ability to make bitter enemies of neighbors . . . Just like squirrels!

3) He has suffered inhumane treatment at the hands of humans, giving him a most personal insight into the lives of everyday squirrels.

4) And finally, he does look like us. For example, the photo, at left, is certainly the face of a squirrel, fiercely protecting his nuts.

...imagine the Democratic Party seeking a pro-life, free-trading, non-protectionist, deficit hawk...

That would make for an interesting personal ad...

MMM (married metrosexual male)  seeks SRW (sneaky Republican whore) for 4 to 8 year relationship. Me: into hair care, talking about my time in Vietnam, botox, talking about my time in Vietnam, being 2nd Black president, talking about my time in Vietnam. You: self-absorbed, talking about my time in Vietnam, acting like a shameless political slut, talking about my time in Vietnam. Prefer non-smoker who wants to have naughty fun with condiments. Be my love slave and drive me wild (and to the White House!)
