A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Celebrate Living 3...

Today we are featuring more suggestions, observations and reminders on how to live a happy and rewarding life. Some are private, most are excerpts from "Life's Little Instruction Book" by H. Jackson Brown, Jr. Please stop in..and add your own. Also,, please click on the music link below (Songs of Africa). We guarantee the combination will make you feel good all day. Enjoy!
Sounds Out Of Africa

Suggestions on how to live a happy & rewarding life:

Take time to smell the roses.

Learn to play a musical instrument.
Be forgiving of yourself and others.
Learn three clean jokes.
Treat everyone you meet like you want to be treated.
Buy whatever kids are selling on card tables in their front yards.

Show respect for police officers and firefighters. Show respect for military personnel.
Buy vegetables from truck farmers who advertise with hand-lettered signs.
Support a high school band.

In business and in family relationships, remember that the most important thing is trust.
Refill ice cube trays.
Always have something beautiful in sight, even if it’s just a daisy in a jelly glass.

Smile a lot. It costs nothing and is beyond price.
Learn to identify local wildflowers, birds, and trees.
Learn CPR.
Stop and read historical roadside markers.
Turn off the television at dinner time.

Learn to handle a pistol and rifle safely.
Fly Old Glory on the Fourth of July.
Stand at attention and put your hand over your heart when singing the national anthem.

Strive for excellence.
Avoid negative people.
Don’t scrimp in order to leave money to your children.
Never give up on what you really want to do. The person with big dreams is more powerful than one with all the facts.

Encourage your children to have a part-time job after the age of sixteen.
Never take action when you’re angry.
Measure people by the size of their hearts, not the size of their bank accounts.
Don’t worry that you can’t give your kids the best of everything. Give them your very best.

Surprise a new neighbor with one of your favorite homemade dishes- and include the recipe.
Never go grocery shopping when you’re hungry. You’ll buy too much.
Praise in public…..Criticize in private.

Remember that overnight success usually takes about fifteen years.
Remember that a successful marriage depends on two things: (1) finding the right person and (2) being the right person.
Seek opportunity, not security. A boat in a harbor is safe, but in time its bottom will rot out.
Reread your favorite book.

Live your life so that your epitaph could read, “No regrets.”

Never waste an opportunity to tell someone you love them.

Give thanks before every meal.

Give thanks for your friends.

Give thanks for our friendships we've made at the Finest...

Give thanks for FreeRepublic.

I just can't get over Him so humbly going through all that for me and submitting the way He did. There aren't any words to describe my joy.

Blessed assurance....praise God

Thanks for the sweet thread. I think I do a lot of them, but I can see where some work needs to be done.

I need to learn CPR. LOL I've always wanted to learn this. I tried one time in high school and after the test, everyone asked me, "WHAT WERE YOU DOING"? Oops. I just killed the dummy.

Learn To Write In The Sand

A story tells that two friends were walking through the desert. At a specific point of the journey, they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face. The one, who got slapped, was hurt, but without anything to say, he wrote in the sand:
"TODAY, MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE".

They kept on walking, until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one who got slapped and hurt started drowning, and the other friend saved him. When he recovered from the fright, he wrote on a stone:
"TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE".

The friend who saved and slapped his best friend, asked him, "Why, after I hurt you, you wrote in the sand, and now you write on a stone?"

The other friend, smiling, replied: "When a friend hurts us, we should write it down in the sand, where the winds of forgiveness get in charge of erasing it away, and when something great happens, we should engrave it in the stone of the memory of the heart, where no wind can erase it"

Question: Where did the different races come from?

Answer: The entire human race originated with Eve. Acts 17:26 says, "And He made from one, every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times, and the boundaries of their habitation."

It’s interesting that this have been proven through analysis of mitochondrial DNA.

Allan Wilson and Mark Stoneking of the University of California at Berkeley and Rebecca Cann of the University of Hawaii conducted research in 1987 which indicates that all people living today came from one woman. They collected mitochondrial DNA, which is only passed down through the mother, from 147 women representing five broad geographical regions around the world. The researchers concluded that the entire human race came from one woman.

But that still doesn’t answer the question about the different races. After the world was destroyed through the flood, the world began again through Noah’s family. No, the different races did not come from Shem, Ham, and Japheth either. God changed the races at the Tower of Babel.

In Genesis 11:1, the whole earth spoke the same languages at that time. God supernaturally confused the languages at the tower of Babel and scattered them to different geographic regions around the earth. "Therefore its name was called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of the whole earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of the whole earth" (Gen. 11:9). Before the modern days of rapid travel, we know that different races were located in various parts of the world.

Since the different languages began at the tower of Babel, how did these people find each other after the languages were confused? It is not unreasonable to assume that when God miraculously changed their speech, He also changed their races at the same time. The people grouped together according to their appearances and languages, and then migrated to their various countries.

Of course, this is only speculation because the Bible is silent when it comes to the origin of races. But we do know that everyone originated from one woman, the various races had to begin sometime after the flood, the different languages began at the Tower of Babel, and the different people-groups were scattered over the earth after God changed the languages.

"I'm late - I'm late - for a very important date!"

No, I didn't fall down a hole - I climbed up from one..:))
Had a bad night last night, and as related yesterday, was out of town yesterday, today - and will be tomorrow again.

Will add something to your Lists - a 'random acts of kindness thing' just received from a dear friend of 30 years:

A Simple Gesture

Mark was walking home from school one day when he noticed the boy ahead of him had tripped and dropped all the books he was carrying, along with two sweaters, a baseball bat, a glove and a small tape recorder. Mark knelt down and helped the boy pick up the scattered articles. Since they were going the same way, he helped the boy carry part of the burden. As they walked, Mark discovered the boy's name was Bill, that he loved video games, baseball and history, that he was having a lot of trouble with his other subjects and that he had just broken up with his girlfriend.

Mark went home after dropping Bill at his house. They continued to see each other around school, had lunch together once or twice, then both graduated from junior high school. They ended up in the same high school, where they had brief contacts over the years. Finally the long-awaited senior year came. Three weeks before graduation, Bill asked Mark if they could talk.

Bill reminded him of the day years ago when they had first met. "Do you ever wonder why I was carrying so many things home that day?" "You see, I cleaned out my locker because I didn't want to leave a mess for anyone else. I had stored away some of my mother's sleeping pills and I was going home to commit suicide. But after we spent some time together talking and laughing, I realized that if I had killed myself, I would have missed that time and so many others that might follow. So you see, Mark, when you picked up my books that day, you did a lot more. You saved my life."

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 1 John 4:7,8

Love one another, as I have loved you....John 13:34

Will try to write my 'Dear John' Letter before I go tomorrow - - -

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings about "The Passion" (((((SpookBrat))))).

Your feelings of happiness are because you realize *how much* Jesus loves you to have gone through all of that for you. This movie slams that feeling home more than any other previous Hollywierd white-washed production has ever come even close to doing.

Continued to be blessed in God's endless and eternal love for you.
