Only a year to make up our minds to try him? No rush to justice here. The death penalty is available I assume?

Classic example of the liberalization of country...in WWII this guy would have been executed on the word of three witnesses.

To be sentenced to death, Akbar would need to first be convicted by a unanimous verdict of the jury, then sentenced to death by a similar unanimous vote after a separate sentencing phase.

Give him a fair trial and a fast hanging.

What IS the method of execution for a convictedc military murderer? Firing squad, Hanging? (my personal choice), or lethal injection? Although I WOULD sdupport tying him over the Muzzel of a 155 and firing it.

Is hanging the penalty? What is the penalty for a Court Marshal anyway?

If found guilty execution will be by hanging. If sentenced to death don't expect him to sit it out for twenty years going through endless appeals. His trial and sentencing will be automatically reviewed by a higher authority, he will have one appeal of the sentence and beyond that the best he can hope for is the Supreme Court or the President to intercede...then booonnnggg.

Lethal injection is now the prescribed method.

Strange. I just not that long ago that the military had no one pending a death sentence and that none had been issued for about 30 years.

'Product of Farrakhan' might be a good analogy also.

Lethal injection is now the prescribed method.

Too bad. Chaining him to a rock and starving him to death might have a more significant impact on his fellow "militants".

These are the inmates on the military death row at Ft Leavenworth and the dates they were sentenced to death. Three were soldiers Kuetzler, Gray and Quintanilla and the other three were Marines. As you can see military justice is not particularly swift. They have not executed anybody since 1961.

William Kreutzer since 1996
Ronald Gray since 1987
Jesse Quintanilla since 1998
Dwight J. Loving since 1989
James T. Murphy since 1987
Kenneth Parker since 1992
Wade L. Walker since 1992
