Star Trekkin'
By: The Firm

Star Trekkin' across the universe,
On the Starship Enterprise under Captain Kirk.
Star Trekkin' across the universe,
Only going forward 'cause we can't find reverse.

Lt. Uhura, report.
There's Klingons on the starboard bow, starboard bow, starboard bow;
there's Klingons on the starboard bow, starboard bow, Jim.

Analysis, Mr. Spock.
It's life, Jim, but not as we know it, not as we know it, not as we know it;
it's life, Jim, but not as we know it, not as we know it, Captain.

There's Klingons on the starboard bow, starboard bow, starboard bow;
there's Klingons on the starboard bow, starboard bow, Jim.

Star Trekkin' across the universe,
On the Starship Enterprise under Captain Kirk.
Star Trekkin' across the universe,
Only going forward, still can't find reverse.

Medical update, Dr. McCoy.
It's worse than that, he's dead, Jim, dead, Jim, dead, Jim;
it's worse than that, he's dead, Jim, dead, Jim, dead.

It's life, Jim, but not as we know it, not as we know it, not as we know it;
it's life, Jim, but not as we know it, not as we know it, Captain.

There's Klingons on the starboard bow, starboard bow, starboard bow;
there's Klingons on the starboard bow, starboard bow, Jim.

Starship Captain, James T. Kirk:
Ah! We come in peace, shoot to kill, shoot to kill, shoot to kill;
we come in peace, shoot to kill, shoot to kill, men.

It's worse than that, he's dead, Jim, dead, Jim, dead, Jim;
it's worse than that, he's dead, Jim, dead, Jim, dead.

Well, it's life, Jim, but not as we know it, not as we know it, not as we know it;
it's life, Jim, but not as we know it, not as we know it, Captain.

There's Klingons on the starboard bow, starboard bow, starboard bow;
there's Klingons on the starboard bow, scrape 'em off, Jim.

Star Trekkin' across the universe,
On the Starship Enterprise under Captain Kirk.
Star Trekkin' across the universe,
Only going forward, and things are getting worse!

Engineer, Mr. Scott:
Ye cannot change the laws of physics, laws of physics, laws of physics;
ye cannot cahnge the laws of physics, laws of physics, Jim.

Ah! We come in peace, shoot to kill, shoot to kill, shoot to kill;
we come in peace, shoot to kill; Scotty, beam me up!

It's worse than that, he's dead, Jim, dead, Jim, dead, Jim;
it's worse than that, he's dead, Jim, dead, Jim, dead.

Well, it's life, Jim, but not as we know it, not as we know it, not as we know it;
it's life, Jim, but not as we know it, not as we know it, Captain.

There's Klingons on the starboard bow, starboard bow, starboard bow;
there's Klingons on the starboard bow, better calm down!

Ye cannot change the script Jim.
Och, #!*& Jimmy.

It's worse than that, it's physics, Jim.

Bridge to engine room, warp factor 9.

Och, if I give it any more she'll blow, Cap'n!

Consistent with evaporative sequence. Similar to evaporation of Dead Sea.

Please keep posting substantive information! I can't get any sound from the NASA broadcast and there's nothing at all on TV. Thanks.

I'd rather look at rocks in my back yard than see Kerry and Edwards on the hustings.

I'd rather fail
My Wasserman Test
Than read the poems
Of Edward Guest.

It really galls me that the news ninnies do not attach more importance to this newsworthy event.

Well, of course it isn't important. The underwear of Kobe Bryant's accuser and semen samples found therein are of much more importance then any findings on another planet.

We had some discussions about this image last night here ... "Mars Rover Opportunity Makes 'Significant' Finding"

In a small patch of Martian soil, scientists see spheres and fragmented pebbles, sand grains and finer material, and a range of colors suggesting different compositions.

What are those 2 things that show some linear pattern at the top right of the photo?

I've spent time in an active gold mine. The first hundred feet or so goes through sedimentaries. Then you get into the slates and metamorphics. Seen alot of interesting stuff there. But I never saw a sphere. Or anything rotini shaped. Rocks can do alot of amazing things, but the crystalline structure is almost always plainly evident.

Scientist saying it's clear that they'll have to do a sample return mission in the future.

"Liquid water as opposed to ice?"

Yes, liquid ground water. Processes and minerals were identified in the rock outcropping which indicated that it was drenched in water or water percolated through it.

Exactly. Certain shapes are organic rather than chemical.

I also am curious about what chemical would dissolve and leave voids, as was discussed. Halite (salt) will do that, as will gypsum and calcium carbonate. The latter would be the most interesting.

Interesting stuff. If there was (is) water capable of sustaining life, why didn't critters evolve based on the old "survival of the fittest".

I suppose the next trip will be looking for fossils. Any critter or evidence of a critter found should be totally different from anything we have here on earth.

This is nothing they haven't known for about 30 years. Several Viking photos showed a water spout which changed patterns when re-photographed seconds later. They are trickling the information out like a time release capsule to get us used to the idea before they spring 'we found life' on us.

The Mineral Spas of Mars. Surely we can find a few rich, somewhat aged and worn people who could and would pay to soak in the Mineral Springs of Mars.

I am eager for the ESA to start with their Mars surface penetrating radar. Perhaps it will turn up subsurface water deposits of some significance...

Looks like a trilobite to me. Of course, I could be reading things into the picture given that I WANT to find fossils. I would entertain other explanations if anyone has any.

the Burgess shale in British Columbia.
