A Shameful Past
Don't play the Vietnam card with me, John Kerry.

[history]
The Vietnamization of the 2004 presidential campaign has unfortunately begun, thanks to the likely Democratic nominee. But John Kerry's service--Vietnam, in case you haven't heard--doesn't exist in a vacuum. His 19-year Senate record is at long odds with that short naval career, just as his vote to send troops to liberate Iraq is at odds with his later vote not to fund the mission. His supporters ask us to note his heroism in combat. We have, ad nauseam. But more important, and the thing he doesn't want discussed, is the well-documented though less well-known hypocrisy of those who use his service to further their antimilitary agenda.

That video was pretty moving. The Village Voice is getting pretty interesting. They're leftists, but unlike for example The Nation, they allow an opposing point of view, such as Nat Hentoff, the latest article on Kerry, and now this video.

Probably just reflecting Hillary's wishes. To keep her option open for 2008, she must make sure that John "flipflop" Kerry doesn't get elected this year. What better way than to use the left-wing media to do a hit piece. Her staff may well have friends on the Voice who rushed to her heinous' bidding.

As a Vietnam-era veteran, I suffered the after-effects of Kerry's betrayal of his felloe veterans. After I hung up my uniform, all I wanted was to get a job abd resume my place in American society. Thanks to Kerry, that wasn't to be. Employers weren't interested in hiring a "baby killer", "torturer", "doper". All the jobs I could get had no career potential, thanks to John Kerry.
We veterans have long memories and remember how we were treated as the direct result of this traitor. It is part of the Dems' pattern to elect people who hate America. Clinton lead anti-war rallies at the Kremlin on the invitation of the KGB. Kerry betrayed his fellow Vietnam veterans by lying and misrepresenting their accomplishments to the Congress.
See the pattern?

Thanks for your service to our country from a fellow FL resident. My Dad was a WWII vet (Iwo Jima) and he would turn over in his grave if someone like Kerry was in the WH.

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated but, in all fairness, I don't really consider myself a Vietnam vet. I was in-country on a 10-day detachment out of Japan and, at that, we were in what I consider the "country club" of Vietnam; Cam Ranh Bay, even so we saw some relatively minor skirmishes. The real Vietnam veterans are the grunts who manned the firebases and slogged through the rice paddies trying to win a war the US wasn't committed to winning.
Those are the men AND women to whom I look up. Guys like me don't really hold a candle to those folks.

Black Bart must be very proud of his daughter, the son-in-law he never knew, and the grandchildren he never met. These patriots are the ones I want to hear from in the months ahead, as John F'in' Kerry continues to try and exploit his personal "history" while dodging the thousands and thousands of anti-military, anti-intelligence votes he's cast over his 19 years in the Senate. "BRING IT ON!"

Glad to see this posted here. I sent a reply to Opinion Journal. I don't know how many people read the responses there, but I wanted this author to know that she is expressing the sentiments of millions of Americans who were affected by service in Vietnam.
It seems that Kerry has been living in a Boston/Georgetown/Capitol Hill bubble, entirely removed from "real America." I guess I should add elite media to his bubble shield. However, real American voters know the truth about him.
