Tammy Bruce's book The Death of Right and Wrong is a useful book to read regarding gay marriage, the gay agenda in our public schools and the leftists who promote them.
Bruce is a lesbian and former president of the Los Angeles chapter of NOW. She has long since left NOW and condemns them AND the radical gay agenda thoroughly in her book.
It is one of the best books I've ever read and explains what is wrong with the left and the radical gays. Bruce has worked with Congress and Phyllis Schafley on these matters and is currently a commentator for FNC.
Bruce feels the radical leftists and gays have a mental disease called malignant narcissism and explains how it is rooted in trauma that never attempts recovery. These individuals, instead of seeking psychological help, are focusing on social change. In other words, they want the rest of society to mirror their own hurt and pain.
She makes a very convincing case for the fact that an entire wing of politics is invested in the victim-hood of its constituency, the leaders of which are trying to work out their demons on society.
The book is shocking and details how the radical left and gays have espoused sexualizing our children and how supposedly mainstream supporters of those efforts have stated publicly that "Sex is not harmful to children...there are many ways even the smallest of children can partake in it" (page 193). As outrageous as this sounds, it is not some fringe group of marginalized pedophiles that want this evil perpetrated to rationalize their depravity, but rather the leaders of the "special interest" groups on the Left, sponsored by their friends in the media. Well-documented facts throughout the book reveal this agenda clearly.
This is a MUST read book in order to take on the left using their own words against them.
When mainstream America realizes what is going on, we will be more aware and able to stop this dangerous agenda from moving forward.
Sorry for the long post, but I cannot stress more strongly how important this issue is and how this book will help us fight this fight.

Would it have been more courageous and shown more leadership to have embraced this last May?I don't think so. He gave the states its own leeway to do the right thing. Now that it's getting totally out of control, he is stepping in and endorsing an amendment.

I will not call you names, but I will say that you have really changed.
Your arguments are dripping with cynicism, and because of that, you aren't making any sense.
And for that, I am sorry.

Are you watching this Dem nitwit being interviewed on FNC .. she's saying that for the President to come out this early to be running as a candidate instead of being a President shows a sign of desperation

You must really like abuse, you court it so steadfastly.
Wouldn't you be happier somewhere else?
Have you been banned at DU?

Oh, brother.
#1. He's busy. We're at war.
#2. I think many people, including President Bush, did not for a second believe the gay marriage issue would be pushed to the point where judges are willing to break the law.
#3. That the president doesn't do things in YOUR timeframe in no way undermines his presidency or his leadership.

"Pure politics. The Prez can't honestly believe this is a good idea." Perhaps mostly politics, but this is of course an election year, and anyone not employing politics is stupid. At worst, this amendment is benign.

Ditto your #163.
He did with the judges just what he did with the UN.
Gave them every opportunity to hang themselves and show just how irrelevant they really are.

If Bush had come out for the amendment earlier, he would have been accused of creating a problem that didn't exist, just for political gain. Now that the issue has become so visible (thanks to the libs themselves), Bush has a firm foundation of public support to fight for this amendment. Good point. Also, I was just thinking, can you imagine what would have happened if Davis survived the recall election? No doube he would have made sure that the marriages that have already happened would have been recorded as legal by now. At least Arnold's administration has said they are going to return the licenses and not officially record them, because the forms were 'modified'. This will make it much easier to 'undo' the mess that the mayor of SF has caused in our state.

Musgrave is a legislator. Bush isn't. Be glad the POTUS is on the right side of this and carry on. With a Democrat we would NEVER get it. Things take time in the real world, be grateful for the victories.
To: TigersEye
The conservatives you talk about are those who are Republicans by convenience. They'd support the Democrats if they'd support their quest in strengthening federal control over our lives. Democrats used to be socially conservative and these people happily voted Democrat. The Founders gave us a way to stop judicial activism.

Now we just need to devise a method to efficiently impeach these activist judges. They constantly step WAY over the bounds of their authority with no real repercussions.
